I'd settle for an explanation in complex terms, that leave me totally befuddled & confused, but at least I'd have a sense of 'there's logic in that, 'cause someone understands'.

Is it not a case that Sarbjot has failed the EFL test as he was unable to show the source of his funds. This means the Bond Group still own the club and are financing continuation of the club to ensure they are able to sell a league club to another buyer. Our worth will have reduced due to relegation and if we continued to decline the club would become virtually worthless.

Has Sarbjot failed in his attempt to convince the EFL that he is a fit and proper person to control a club and instead has he invested in Bond Group enabling the Bond Group to continue to fund Morecambe FC ?

Maybe Sarbjot's intention is to supply more accounts and financial information to Companies House to support a future request to the EFL for approval.

The club's value would be a packet of crisps if it dropped into the National League or whatever it's called these days so it makes sense to make sure it has a competitive team.

Truth is, we really don't know how/why this has come about. It could be that Jason is feeling like the Sarb move won't happen and is now trying to 'bolster his asset' while he sorts another sale. It could also be though that this is a 'creative' way for Sarb to funnel money into the club, although he doesn't get any glory for it (which I presume is part of his motivation). So maybe that means the Sarb sale might in fact be close and this is just a bit of upfront money while the final bits get done?

It is a strange situation. It's pleasing that there is now a set budget that isn't minuscule and it should be something for Derek to work with properly, although it's 'dressed up' a bit given that our previous L2 budgets weren't exactly much to shout about.

Also frustrating that this support didn't come much earlier, at the very least at the start of this month to enable us to offer some contracts (hopefully we may be able to claw one or two back). I think it's probably this ridiculous game of brinksmanship that Jason seems to be playing in order to force the move through that is the reason for this.

Although our recent League 2 budgets were fairly frugal I wonder if they mean its the biggest League 2 budget in our history even when you take into account the Sammy McIlroy era and 2010/2011 when we spent a lot of money including Tony Capaldi !

"A playing budget that will be the highest provided as a League Two Club in our history."

Yeah sounds like it will be higher than the McIlroy ones! Although saying that, that was over a decade ago - I think it's probably fairly reasonable to assume that what was a sizeable budget back in 2010 wouldn't necessarily be considered a particularly large budget these days.

Adjusting for wage inflation over the past couple of years, it could be that the proposed budget isn't actually better than the one we had in the covid/promotion year at all. Wages will have gone up in the last 2 years.

True LS unless they mean after adjusting for Inflation.

My memory is quite good and I think the playing wages in the accounts for the year ended 31 May 2011 which was Sammy's last in charge were around £1,150,000. The next year when Jim took charge I think they reduced the budget.
