Our future??

I suggested some time ago that we the fans needed to express our anger at the way our club was being treated by the proposed buyer and the Football League. I felt a protest march would have an impact and attract publicity about our concerns. At the meeting organised by the officers of the Trust it was clear that the Trust didn't feel the time was ripe for any protest march and I respect this decision. I still feel anger at what is happening to our beloved club. We were relegated narrowly when a signing or two in the transfer window and minimal spending would have seen us safe and as a club we seem frozen into inaction. Signings for the new season have been minimal so far and I get the feeling from the players signed that the best we can achieve next season is survival. The only bright spot is the continuing presence of our manager Derek Adams but I have heard a whisper that his continuation as manager is by no means certain. I suspect like the rest of us he is waiting to see what happens about the ownership of our club. I feel we need action now. We need Sarbjot to go away, we need a local consortium to become owners and we need the manager given the backing to strengthen the team. I worry the way things are stagnating we could plummet down the leagues like Yeovil or Scunthorpe.

I think the players signed so far are decent players , we know Smith and he did well in limited opportunities. Stokes is being praised by fans of his previous clubs , FGR , Coventry , Kilmarnock etc. Charlie Brown sounds promising , he came through Chelsea Youth team and has played at EFL1 level.
So far only 1 year contracts have been awarded which if that is the policy may put off a few possible quality signings.

I don't think a local consortium would have the finances required, except possibly Tyson Fury but I don't think he ever intended to buy us and used our sale as a bit of publicity.. I do worry when I look at teams like Rochdale and Scunthorpe sliding into non league football.

Past on my regards to DA when I visited OUR club last Thursday. I have to say I've never seen him look so happy and full of life in the brief time i had there.
Of course the ownership problem is of concern to everybody but DA's body language was one of positivity maybe based on him knowing who is yet to be confirmed as a new player and possibly the return of a couple from last season who would be fantastic signings.
I seriously think we will surprise a few teams this season with what will be DA's own hand picked team.

Mid table or above would be a fantastic achievement but unless the ownership is sorted out quickly i fear another relegation scrap will be on the cards !!!!

That is really good news RR as I still doubt whether Derek would still be with us if he feared the worse. Maybe I'll try to be as optimistic as you
It won't be easy

I think fans sometimes have unrealistic expectations on owners or what we can do to influence change. What will be will be. I'd be surprised if Johal is still in the mix and we may be stuck with Jason for a while longer. Just back the club, spend as much money you can afford on matchdays and let's see what Derek can do. Think it hasn't helped that Derek only found out his budget a few weeks ago. I'd still back him to piece together a capable team but feels like we've had a delayed start to the transfer window once again.

Think we should all wait and see who DA brings to the club before discussing what and when our budget was available and what the figure is.
Wouldn't be surprised if there are a number of exciting surprises in the players already agreed to wear the red shirt......but yest to be made public as is our normal way of doing things close season
Hope that we will continue with videos and photos of pre season training as in previous seasons which created a lot of interest.

Could D.A. be going with extendable 1 year contracts to see how players perform this season. Should we be able to do what some seem to think we can't, then the reward would be playing in a higher league in the future.

July 1st will be when we have a clearer picture of what is happening, as contracts end elsewhere.
I instinctively think we're in for another tough ride next season, and anything around mid-table will be a success. We need the ownership soap-opera to end, so we can settle down to a period of stability.

A few years ago we relied on Kendal Shrimp to give us the heads up on new signings! Oh, and RR behind the bushes

You wouldn't think we would be increasing the admin wages bill with a full-time Events Administrator unless they thought that new ownership was in the offing :-

People thought Kendal Shrimp was Stringy and his mother doesn't work for the football club now so maybe that's why the info has dried up !

Maybe DA is so chipper because he has another 12 months management in the EFL on a no doubt decent contract. If not with us where else would he have gone? Not much in the way of managerial posts up for grabs at the moment. Don't get me wrong, I am a DA fan but he is on a no lose situation with us so the pressure is off. No one expects us to do anything, so if he keeps us up he has exceeded all expectations. All the pundits, bookies etc' have us finishing at or near the bottom of the league. Not sure who RR is referring to as returning players being fantastic signings???? Stockton, Ripley, Crowley, Cooney and Gibson have all got snapped up elsewhere. The rest were bang average and I personally wouldn't want any of them back. Hunter and Gnahoua for example were very disappointing in my opinion. Perhaps RR could elaborate as to who he is referring to? Not sure Weir or Williams would want another loan spell at EFL 2 level. Surely they are looking at EFL 1 or above.
This season looks a very tough gig in EFL 2 and unless we make some quality signings either permanent or on loan we are destined to struggle I feel. At the moment the squad is paper thin and the clock is rapidly ticking towards the start of the new season.

Maybe Derek was so happy because he knew Songo was coming back and he loves the guy.
