https://www.morecambefc.com/news/2023/j ... ew-season/Sorry to see the match day programme disappear but can understand the economics and the loss making that it was incurring.
However may I suggest that on match days that the team details are printed onto a single sheet and are available to buy for 20p to cover the printing and paper costs.
At least let's give it a couple of months trial and if it is of little interest then no substantial loss.

Understandable, but I think a missed opportunity. If the program had become electronic, it would have massively reduced costs, and been available to a wider audience, in particular, away fans who couldn't get to the game. Set the price right, and it could have been a good revenue provider, and (for example) be updated as soon as teams were announced. A downloadable PDF, with format set around mobile phones.

I agree. Fair enough that costs are high, but an online or pdf version could have meant revenue from advertising continues. A lost opportunity (again) unfortunately to modernise and find alternative revenue streams.

I guess part of the issue is the time required to write for Quinny and other contributors

A shame that the programme is no more, but its a sign of the times sadly. Oddly I think an electronic programme would be even less popular than the printed version - since people accessing these can get pretty much the same information online from multiple sources already, and I suspect a large number of those people that do buy them currently is born out of nostalgia about a football programme (collecting them etc) - but it needs to pay. If its losing money given all the time and effort it takes to produce, its a complete non-starter without Derek putting together and people making regular contributions, then the club needs to consider alternatives.

I haven't bought one in years.
With the rise of Social Media and Internet news channels it really isn't a requirement anymore, just like your average daily newspaper.
Times move on, we just need to make sure that we're moving with them. Our Social Media and Internet presence could be greatly improved.

I've no problems with an on line version on a monthly basis providing news and club updates BUT A match day team sheet with possibly a few notes from the manager at a nominal charge would be much appreciated.
At the very least we should give it a trial for the first 6 home games and if it is proving of little interest then scrap it ....but for big games ie FA Cup etc a special match day progamme would be an excellent idea.

Teams can be found on 100s of sites and apps so I wouldn't think there would be much need for a printed team sheet. Plus pre-match interviews/quotes from managers can be found easily enough.

Granted.....but fans should not have to go searching for such fundamental info....

A quick press on the BBC or Sky Sports App (Other Apps are available) really doesn't require anyone to go searching.

I always check BBC from c. half hour before game, no need to 'go searching' as it's readily available.
