This isn't directly from me, I barely remember what I had for breakfast yesterday, but I'm passing it along, as it is quite interesting.
We’ve been allocated Ross Joyce for the Harrogate match on Saturday.
We didn’t see him at all last season but had him in charge three times during 2021/22 - in the Trophy when we lost 0-2 to Carlisle, in the infamous 1-1 Bolton match at home and when we beat Burton 3-0.
In 2021-22 he gave out 113 yellows and 8 reds in 37 matches (3.05 and 0.22).
In 2022-23 he gave out 118 yellows and 6 reds in 30 matches (3.93 and 0.20).
So far this season he’s give out 16 yellows and no reds in 3 matches (5.33).

We’ve been allocated Will Finnie for the Salford match on Saturday.
He was in charge when we beat Bristol Rovers 5-1 last January!
Also when we lost 1-0 at Doncaster two years ago and beat Maldon & T 0-1 in the FA Cup in 2020.
He’s given out 23 yellows and 1 red so far this season in 6 matches (3.83/0.17).
Last season he gave 100 yellows and 1 red in 32 matches (3.13/0.03)

We’ve been allocated Declan Bourne for the Gillingham match on Saturday.
We didn’t see him last season but we like him as we’ve won all three matches when he’s been the ref. Shrewsbury 2-0 in August 2021, Scunthorpe 4-1 in April 2021 and Grimsby 3-1 in December 2020 all at home.
He issued 86 yellows and 2 reds in 30 matches last season (2.87 and 0.07) and 6 yellows and no reds in 1 match so far at Colchester last Saturday.

We’ve got Ollie Yates in charge tomorrow for the Liverpool U21 match.
He was the ref for two of our matches last season – the 1-2 win at FGR in September and the 0-0 at Portsmouth in April. He gave out 141 yellows and 1 red in 35 matches last season (4.03 and 0.03) and so far this season 16 yellows and no reds in 5 matches (3.20).

We’ve been allocated Adam Herczeg for the Forest Green Rovers match on Saturday and Keith Stroud for the Accrington match next Tuesday.

Missed this, prior to Saturday's diabolical refereeing performance...
We’ve been allocated Sam Purkiss for the Colchester match on Saturday and Simon Mather for the Barrow EFL Trophy match next Tuesday.
We didn’t see SP last season but he was in charge when we drew at Accy 2-2 in January 2022. He sent Stephen Hendrix off at Newport when we lost 2-1 in December 2020. He gave out 110 yellows and 10 reds in 29 matches last season (3.79 and 0.34) and he’s given 40 yellows and 4 red in 8 matches so far this season (5.00 and 0.50).
SM was in charge last season when we beat Barnsley 1-0 in October and in December when we lost 1-0 at Port Vale sending Donald Love off in the last minute. He gave out 142 yellows and 6 reds last season in 34 matches (4.18 and 0.18) and he’s given 36 yellows and 4 reds in 6 matches so far this season (6.00 and 0.67).
Both refs have card stats way over the average!!!
After Saturday’s Oxford v Bristol Rovers match SM has now issued 42 yellows and 7 reds in 7 matches!!!

We’ve been allocated ref Ed Duckworth for the Wimbledon match on Saturday and Ben Speedie for Barrow next Tuesday.

Thinking about the
current ref thread, perhaps we should start rating them? Rate out of ten and a small comment?
Ben Speedie: Barrow. 6/10Bottled three big decisions. Mellon pulled backwards in the penalty area, Senior should have been sent off & somehow, last man Mellon was fouled, yet Barrow free-kick? Generally, most 50:50 decisions went Barrow's way.

I think referee Ben Speedie was very poor. He bottled the big decisions 2/10 in my mind.

We’ve been allocated ref Martin Coy for the Lincoln match on Saturday.
Was it him that gave Love a yellow for picking up the wrong ball at a throw-in ?

This season he’s issued 56 yellows and 2 reds in 9 matches (6.22 and 0.22) including the infamous Stevenage v Wigan match last month with 13 yellows and 2 reds!!

We’ve been allocated Ben Atkinson for the Wrexham match on Saturday and Ross Joyce for Newport on Tuesday.
It’s BA’s first season in the EFL after only 7 matches in the NL! Last season he issued 36 yellows and 1 red in the 7 matches (5.14 and 0.14). This season he’s issued 69 yellows and 5 reds in 14 matches (4.93 and 0.36).
RJ was in charge and sent Rawson off when we lost 2-0 at Harrogate in August. Last season he issued 118 yellows and 6 reds in 30 matches (3.93 and 0.20) and this season 67 yellows and 6 reds in 15 matches (4.47 and 0.40).

Rawson's sending off was a disgrace. Free-kick should have been ours, and then they add insult to insult, by scoring from the free-kick. Let's hope things '
balance out', as we keep being told that they do, and he gives us a key, dodgy decision!

After his performance at Harrogate it doesn't bode well for the Wrexham game tomorrow. I hope I'm wrong but I suspect Hollywood in Wales will get all the 50-50 decisions from a poor referee. How does a referee get promoted after a handful of games refereeing in the National League? Surely there are more experienced referees in NL who spend years waiting for promotion ? I often wonder how the promotion ladder works for referees as some diabolical refs seem to easily get onto the League list when they appear to have no talent or ability.

It's the Newport game he's at.

That's two dreadful performances by Joyce. There are some incompetent refs, but they are fair, making errors in both directions. Joyce's decisions don't '
balance out'. I hope we don't see him again for a very long time.

We’ve been allocated Peter Wright for the FA Cup match at Wycombe.
We had him in charge last season when we beat Rotherham in the EFL Cup 0-1 and when we drew against Exeter at home 1-1. Last season he issued 75 yellows and 3 reds in 23 matches (3.26 and 0.13) and so far this season 59 yellows and 2 reds in 16 matches (3.69 and 0.13).
