Harrowgate observations

Their manager is the son of the wealthy Harrogate owner and Chairman who has pumped quite a bit of money into their club over the last few years including providing his son with a good playing budget.

Their free kick from which they scored their second goal was an almost replica of the goal that Mellon scored v Bradford in that the defensive wall was positioned very poorly leaving a gap that saw the ball sail through.

At our last home game in EFL1 Harrogate's O'Connor and our former player was seen in deep conversation at the Mazuma with Gibbo....pure coincidence that Gibbo signed for Harrogate.... :?: :?: :?:

Over the last 10 years or so they have risen from a humble non league club to now being an EFL club. They have similar rags to riches progression to that of AFC Fylde although AFC are now in the National League but are owned by a Lytham based millionaire who has a highly successful animal and veterinary supply business in the town.

If only we had an owner like the above who was able to pump money into our club......

Just looking at the last accounts for Harrogate which were for the year ended 30 June 2022 and they have made a Loss of circa £1.2 million. Morecambe for the same year made a Profit of circa £1.2 million.

Saturday they had 2,200 so you can only imagine another huge loss for them this year. If we ever get anything like normal ownership (and I don't mean sugar daddy ownership) then I know which club has the better future.

Their ground was Conference/Conference North standard. The view from the seats certainly at low level where I was was shocking , you could hardly see what was happening up the other end of the park.

Gibson was on the bench so the grass is not always greener Liam !

Gibbo was released by us, without a contract offer, so I don't blame him for securing a job.

So how did that work out then?
