Kendal Town beat Skelmersdale United 6-1 at Parkside Road tonight.

Top of their league and that man Bailey I mentioned a week or 2 ago scored another hat-trick.

The gate was a creditable 860 which is more than we had at home to Crewe about 4 years ago.

That's a great crowd for the Mint-cakes - just goes to show that they have the potential to grow if they can have a bit of success on the field; we've seen that also ourselves with the home support more than doubling after years of stagnation. Hopefully they can build up a bit of momentum and push themselves back up the pyramid. No reason why they can't be at the same level as Lancaster City looking to push on towards the Conference North and be a competitive Northern Premier outfit.

Can remember the old days when we played them every season and gates often reached close to 1800.

Will always remember one particular trip to Parkside as I went on my bike as a spot of training for a forthcoming Road Race that I was to take part in based in the South of England over a weekends 2 days.

Those where the days when i was a lot slimmer, certainly fitter :o and not a bad competitive racing cyclist with dreams of turning pro one day.... :o

I actually beat the supporters coaches back to Morecambe...
