Just about to be transferred over to Digital Voice for all my calls instead of landline.

Anybody already on BT Digital Voice and if so is it better than landline as claimed.

I've had a letter from BT telling me they are switching me to digital voice but not happened yet , still have my landline.

We had to give up BT broadband because the copper cables from the "box" at the end of the road to our house were old and past it (as confirmed by BT engineers). We moved to Virgin who have their own, more modern, cabling.

We're still with BT for landline (pulse system), but the phone quality is dire (crackling, dropped calls, sometimes ringer won't work, etc).

BT havn't replaced the cables between the street end "box" and houses, so I strongly suspect the proposed "broadband based" landline won't work adequately and we'll have to get our landline through Virgin instead.

But, I'll wait to see.

Been on Digital Voice for about 18 months now…doesn’t seem any better than old landline, sound sometimes cuts in and out. Also handsets sometimes get stuck synchronising data so you have to turn them off and on again! That said nearly all calls are on mobiles these days so it’s hardly been used by us.

We've recently gone onto digital voice through B4RN, and had no problems to date. Naturally the cabling locally is pretty new. (And no, I'm not on commission RR)

It's ok if you have a proper broadband signal as has been said, you need fibre cos copper isn't reliable enough.
At work i wish we could have our old phones back, but the wireless mobiles are a bonus.

If the broadband dips out u r f@@ked.

Bit like electric cars, this is the future

We’re on full fibre, but still get drop out on sound at times - guess it also relies on the other caller having reliable connection. Despite full fibre we had a drop out of service last December, when we had no broadband or digital voice for a week - without a mobile phone I wouldn’t have been able to report the fault!
Overall it ain’t been as reliable as the old landline so far.

and of course if you get a power cut that's the end of your phone system, just like card machines

90% of my customers pay by card, so i have to have a battery/inverter back up
