After 42 years of supporting Morecambe Fc I have today decided to call it a day
I have other things going on in my life which are far more important than football
Just want to say good luck to everyone connected with the great club that I have loved so so long

Hope you can enjoy Saturday afternoons without watching our club.
There have been times when I've felt like packing it in BUT after 65 years it's now become a way of life...
Cheerio...

Good luck Redalert. I haven't always agreed with your views on here but you helped liven it up

How have the Leeds fans taken the news?

Don't give up. Sometimes we need a break but if you have time, take in a few games. It really shouldn't be all or nothing. COYS

Take care John, not always a great idea to announce a decision like that

Hi 1970.
I am with you after 20 years have seen enough. I have enough frustrations in my life which coupled with heart problems don’t need the stress of seeing MFC going under which it is at very real risk of doing IMO
Thanks to all on here for the spats I have enjoyed them and will miss some of the more sensible contributors though can’t see the back of some quick enough.
Anyway all of you take care and look after you and yours.

Bloody Hell, some haven't taken Derek leaving very well!

Can't believe that some fans are leaving because we
might be in danger of going down. Since I've been posting on here we've nearly always been in danger of the drop. It's one of the hazards of being a Morecambe fan.
Could it be because we had 2 years in the dizzy heights of league one? Also it's only a few weeks since Derek was talking about a plan to get us into the Championship? Add to this we were fed the hope that 'someone' from abroad was really interested in buying the club? The team was also looking as if there was a possibility of a promotion challenge. Suddenly, in a matter of a couple of weeks, all that seems to be gone and the talk is that our great loan players will be taken back by their respective clubs. We don't
know that! We don't
know that, despite having one of our best starts to a season, we are destined for relegation or that all chances of a new owner have collapsed! We don't
know that Ged has only been given the manager's job because "we can't afford anyone better''. We must give him more time surely
I can understand that some people are finding this all too stressful but the rest of us should be rallying round the club, team and management.

I think it is the complete "wall of silence" from the board that is killing the club.
The only person that mentioned a vision was Derek Adams and now he is gone.

That's not the case though in RedAlert1970 and also Argumentative's situation.
As they both say, somethings in life are more important than football.

Which is why I added the last sentence.

Yes, I fully agree. For months, the only positivity or information has come from Derek. The BOD have been eerily silent, which is a great worry. Usually, when things look bad, we get one or other of the long standing board members making some kind of positive statement, but this radio silence isn't a good sign at all. All I can assume is that Jason is imposing some kind of news blackout and prohibiting them from speaking. Bad enough letting nearly all of our players go in May, but this continued silence from the BOD is causing a massive loss of confidence in the club's future.

maybe Jason isn't in a rush to sell, and waiting for a “1 Million+ bid” for Adam Mayor where he can keep every single penny with being the owner, like owners do.

Maybe one day we will find out what has gone on when Jason is no longer around and the board can tell it how it was?

It is hard to blame the Board without knowing the situation they are having to deal with and have been dealing with for a few years now. The club has grown due to the ambition shown by some Directors who dragged us away from the darkness and hired Derek and Robinson.
The trouble is nobody will buy a club like ours. PMG couldn't sell it and we still can't find a buyer after over a year. What do you get for your money? A ground you can't do anything with, one bit of land already mortgaged and a business that loses money.

Berlin Waller is right , it's hardly worth buying as there is little prospect of making money, PMG did well to shift the club as it was a burden, Jason and Colin were in it for a quick buck , and are leaving it to our Board ,who are actually fans , to run on a shoestring.
The "calling it a day thing" is a bit of a facebook type phenomenon by fans that I dont really understand , a bit like posting pics of your dinner.

I'm still waiting for the "inside" story from the Board about the various sales from PMG to Diego, Abdul, the Newcastle accountants, Carlos, etc. Given the time that has now elapsed since that fiasco, you'd have thought there'd have been more said about what really happened, rather than the rumours that seemed to circulate among the "inner circle".

Im guessing the silence from the board is because they have nothing to say, maybe whoever was interested in the club may have changed there mind which may have been a contributing factor in Derek leaving. Just my opinion...

It's clear to me the board have been gagged. We trust the board and they would have said something by now if they could. If nothing is happening on the sales front Jason is not getting any money from that so he may well take whatever he can before we go under. If the board goes we do go under and that is why Derek suddenly switched from talking about future plans and a coming sale to taking a God given out at Ross County. If there really is no one wanting to buy us then things are really grim.

The only way the old Directors could make their money back was to sell the only asset we had and that was Christie Park. They all called in their loans and left us with an expensive ground with no scope for improvements or ability to raise finance against it. All other land was carved up and sold on by the Directors. PMG put the 3g pitches in his ownership as it was the only land available to mortgage. You look back now and it all seems beyond belief.
The trust on the ground has probably saved us from Jason and Colin but in the long term it stops any form of progress

The beating heart and lifeblood of the club is in its supporters , and thanks to JB Christie's foresight there will always be a town team, with a home.

Totally agree, if it wasn't in place we would have been broken up and loaded with debt just like Worcester Warriors were. Christie Park could be developed though, as it was with the new North stand. What can you do to the Mazuma? This is why the only people we know about that have wanted to buy the club have been slightly dodgy to say the least

Our only way of progressing now, is if other clubs, that are living beyond their means, fail. I wouldn't be surprised if a storm is coming, where one after another, clubs with massive debts, begin to fall. If the 'Proceeds of Crime Act' is used to recover assets from Pilley, Fleetwood Town could fall a long way. At least our lack of investment for a long time, leaves us in a good position to weather that storm.

So what exactly would a prospective owner be buying if they bought Morecambe FC ?.
