January? Oh poo!!!

January? Oh poo!!!

Dreading January's transfer window.

I'm a temporary Shrewsbury fan for the next few games! Their form looks to have picked up a bit. I reckon if they'd looked in danger of relegation, they'd definitely have recalled Bloxham. They might anyway. Today could be huge. If we get a decent draw, away at a big Premier League club, perhaps we could actually afford to make a transfer fee available to bring him in on a permanent basis?

Regardless of the FA Cup cash bonanza, or Stevenage away and still be skint, I'll be amazed if Mellon is still with us at the end of the season. Derby County were sniffing around him, and I'm sure there will be other League One sides, looking for someone who knows where the goal is. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go to a different County, one based at the top of Scotland. Playing in the Scottish Premier, under a manager who he knows, could be ideal for his career development, especially with him now involved with the Scottish U21's. I'll be amazed if he's still with us at the end of January.

If either player are recalled, I hope they stay with us for the FA Cup Third Round, but then go in good time for us to find someone else.

If Shrewsbury have all their strikers fit and firing, I can't see them recalling Bloxham. Wouldn't be much point if you've got Udoh, Bowman and Kieran Phillips already. However, injuries (Phillips has been injured for a while) and bad form could tell - like you say, I'm a Shrewsbury fan this month!

Worth mentioning that the supposed Derby interest in Mellon wasn't actually legitimate - the article was a fan detailing why they'd like Derby to sign Mellon, rather than any actual confirmed interest in him. We'll just have to see how Burnley feel about any interest that does materialise. Same with King. Can't see Connolly being recalled though, so that's a positive!

After the blip at the start of the season, I think King needs a longer run at this level, so he's probably safe.

The one thing in our favour with Mellon could be that Burnley want to build his confidence, so playing week in, week out, and scoring with us, may be preferable to possibly bench warming elsewhere.

I didn't realise the Derby rumour was so 'weak', so that's good.

My hunch is that Bloxham, Connelly and King will stay but Mellon may well go. Mayor may also be sold.
We'll also be looking for a keeper as Moore is out for so long. The difficult one is replacing Mellon if he goes.

If Shrewsbury don't want Bloxham back, I'd love to see us make an offer to keep him permanently. Also, offer JJ a new contract. If Mayor goes, which wouldn't surprise me, I hope the majority of the cash raised can be used to strengthen the squad and not simply 'disappear'.

What's the betting that The Bond Group want a good slice of that money to repay as they see it for the money they have ploughed into our club.... :?: :?: :?:

Before he left Derek did say we hold "options" on some of the players that are signed on for Morecambe. I would like to think that JJ , Senior , Rawson , Bedeau , Tutonda fall into that category.
