Starting to get pelters on the Burton forum

Some saying massive waste of money and even comparing him to a certain Rene Howe

Can see Cole gong out on loan to an EFL2 club in this transfer window.

I'd take him back if only for him to show all those who blame him for our relegation last season just what we all know he's capable of. However I doubt a return is likely which will please quite a few on this forum.

You'd take him back, because you think he'd be crap, thus proving he was genuinely crap in League One, rather than 'couldn't be arsed', which is what I think? Or, you think he'd be excellent, because he has a point to prove, thus confirming my view, that the reason he didn't break sweat for most of last season, is, because he couldn't be arsed, and was sulking?

No-one ever doubted his talent, that wasn't the problem. Thinking we should have sold him for peanuts, rather than hold him to his contract, and expecting him to actually do his job, then going on strike becuase he didn't get his move, THAT was the problem.

Do you genuinely believe that he put 100% effort in to Morecambe FC, in the first half of last season? Or even 70%?

I think we all know what he's capable ofRR, the point is he only plays like that when he wants to
as Keith says.

If he's as good as he thinks he is (and what we're paying him for), he'd be able to get some goals without the rest of the team bending over backwards for him. He's already shown he's unfit and has a terrible attitude

Groundhog Day?

Keith and I see things differently on quite a lot of topics.....Cole being one.... ;)

I simply don't believe that if Cole did make an unlikely return that certain fans would show their displeasure with him.....surely if he or for that matter whoever wears a red shirt then they deserve our 100% support..... :?: :?: :?:

On this we agree entirely. And if he did return, I'd give him 100% support.

But is it too much to ask, that in return, a player wearing our shirt gives 100% effort too?

I notice you didn't answer my question!
The other thing to factor in, is the atmosphere in the dressing room. There is a 'togetherness' that a few players have commented upon, with a great team atmosphere. Would you risk damaging that, by bringing in a player who clearly thinks he's bigger & better than us, and who will sulk if he doesn't get his own way? Stockton clearly has talent, but he has baggage too.

Absolutely right. If Derek couldn't get Cole to put in the effort (until Cole decided to do so) then not many managers will be able to get the best out of him. I think this has been shown by the fact that he hasn't 'performed' at any of hid other clubs.

I don’t think it will happen, I cannot see him coming back or us wanting him back. We have to be grateful for all his goals the first season in league one and his late rally in nearly saving us last year, for himself I think but that’s him. He will get a club on the back of those goals for Morecambe but probably in league two. Thou Carlisle may be tempted!

Too much of a risk having him back.

He'll be expensive and I'm sure there's someone else out there for similar money who would actually make the effort instead of risking him sulking again.

His short comings at Burton show that Cole cannot just turn it on like a lightswitch. He did well at Morecambe because we built up his ego and played to his strengths. He was never prolific but got off to a flyer in L1 and played on his unknown status in the first few months of the season. If Cole was hungry and Burton paid most his wages I'd give him a chance.

Ged seems to want players to run around a lot which is something Cole didn't seem too keen on
I think we will be lucky to sign a player of Coles calibre this January.

I'm reading he has signed for Barrow until the end of the season.

GOOD.

Maybe now we can move on and forget him.

It was like the Padraig Amond thread of a few seasons ago.....!!!!

We need to get another one out to free up a bit of budget before anyone else comes in. Acquah to Orient seems to be the rumour.

We’ll see.

His career record shows he has scored a total of 111 goals of which 59 were for Morecambe.

He has failed at just about every other club he has played for.

His Tranmere manager (Micky Mellon) said that although Cole is strong with a powerful shot he is never going to run the channels for you , code for he is lazy !

I think we can do better and certainly Burton must regret giving him a 2 year contract on staggering money !

If Cole goes to Barrow (or anywhere else for that matter) and scores goals then fair enough but if he flops at yet another club then he could be finished as a football league player.

Still no official announcement , Barrow having second thoughts ;)

Charlton are interested as are some other EFL1 clubs. The wages for Charlton wouldn't be a problem and Cole moved to play in Scotland so he could locate to London.

How old is he? He has a choice, like he did here, instead of basically being made to stay because of his great season and having another year on his contract, he can go elsewhere on less money or sit it out. He didn’t seem bothered about the stick he got here, so would it bother him the fans are disgruntled at Buxton?

No, don't think it would bother him at Burton either. ;)

Last thing we need is that stroppy git coming back.
We need team players with a good work ethic at this moment in time.
