I'm confused what we actually raising money for?
People have suggested this in the past to help raise money for non wages or the vat issue but it's always got shot down.
When it's been suggested about buying a stake in the club we get told we would never raise enough money exeter can only do it because they have a lot more people than us.
Why the sudden change of mind and why didn't we do this 2 months ago.

What will raising 50k actually do?
Its not enough to have a meaning stake in the club.
I'm just a little confused.

I presume 50k is just a target , if you have done gofundme before if that target is reached it is increased . There is an explanation on the page as to what it’s for !

Maybe to pay the HMRC V.A.T. and have the embargo removed ?

More funds would be raised if we knew what it will be used for. Is it the vat bill or something else? Now is the time for clear communications.

Save Our Shrimps #SaveOurShrimps.
Morecambe FC is a proud club, with a history spanning over a century.
We like many other clubs in the EFL, have an ownership issue.
Whilst an independent regulator for football is not forthcoming, us Shrimps fans need to fight for our club survival.
We need funds.
This is a Shrimps Trust fundraiser. We need to get money into our coffers so that we have the financial resources to either have a financial stake in our beloved football club and attempt to secure its future, or protect the existence of a football club in Morecambe should the worst happen.
Please support our campaign. Shrimps’ fans now is the time to unite, now is the time to put our money where our mouths are.
To the wider footballing community- this isn’t just a Morecambe FC issue, this is a football pyramid issue. As such we call on you for support too.
If you don’t want to see another EFL club fold, due to mismanagement, and you feel passionate about the lower leagues in this country. Please help Save Our Shrimps.
This is an impassioned plea from us Shrimps, to the wider footballing community, help us get this campaign to go viral. Help us raise funds to try and save our wonderful, community club.
*** Due to the fast-changing position of the Club’s plight, if this campaign is determined not succeed in raising enough funds to purchase a significant share of the Club, the funds will be used in other ways as determined by the Trust Board. This may include projects such as developing the land at the side of the hurley flyer, or a fan zone at the ground. If you give generously, you can rest assured that the money you give, will go towards either saving or improving our club and spend will be subject to member approval.
#SaveOurShrimps.

Again I ask. What is the 6 pm announcement???
I believe there’s a go fund me page ??
What is it for.
If we pay into it aren’t we just making life easier for the owner ???

I think Hodgie's post makes it clear that the money raised will not go to Jason. It's overdue that we have an 'emergency fund' for when things get worse (and they will). People on here have been calling for more action by the Trust and over the last couple of weeks they are responding to that. Now the same people are saying 'well it won't do any good as we'll never get enough'. we certainly won't be able to do anything if we've no money behind us and how does anyone know how much can be raised?

I’m really sorry but I don’t get what the money is for
Wages ?? Apparently they’re paid
Future if the club , there’s nothing that can be done if the owner don’t sell
Buy shares. !! The owner is the major shareholder it’s worthless
I’m not trying to be pro Jason but I don’t honestly see where this goes
A potential fan zone !!! Let’s be serious right now that ludicrous, the masses pay for the few ??

Without being disrespectful to the trust, even a very good effort will raise , in the bigger scheme of things , nowhere near enough to do anything , its a strange idea.

Really Mr Potatohead?
When Bury went bang it happened so quickly their fans just weren't prepared.
If it the unthinkable happens we
Will be ready

Exactly Hodgie. No one is saying we can raise enough to make a fan based take over bid but if we go into administration we may be able to add to a local bid when the figure becomes much lower or help pay the administration fees etc.
A few years ago the Trust was set up to be able to act in just these circumstances and we are in even more danger now than we were then. We now have the Trust set up and it needs more money. There's talk on here of us struggling to stay in League 2 but the truth is we are in a struggle to keep a club at all.
No money.....no club!

I get that we need some type of war chest and you would hope if things did go bad some local companies would help us as well to raise a substantial amount so at least this is the start of something.
I do think though this should have been done after the meeting at the exchange all those months ago when people were asking what we could do.

I never known such a winging fan base.... if you can donate that would be amazing.
If you think its pointless then fine.

I really do wish people would stop all this ‘should have happened’ then blah blah blah, it doesn’t matter it’s history, we all wish that but there were reasons it couldn’t be, enough said. Let’s all gell together now, you’re making JW very happy with all this bickering & boy do you not realise this is the worst ever position we have been in.

So how much are you thinking is needed and do we have the time? I don’t see a massive amount being raised. How many fans went on the walk from Eric to the Mazuma?
Would you invest more than your season ticket money if you struggle to get that money together?
We would have to rely on richer people dipping into their pockets, will they do that?
Would we get enough to help the club to a degree where it will make a difference?
Yes I would put something into the kitty but it will be what I can afford and I would want that money tracking to make sure it was used properly.
And if you want to know it would be no more than £100 but I would have to no I’m not wasting my money and that the kitty is very very healthy indeed, well on the way to the target I expect you to announce is the fund is trying to raise.
I also think their will be fans who do not contribute, it just the nature of life.
I’m sorry I think your in for a long long slog.

I think it would have been helpful if the BOD had disclosed the amount of cash needed to discharge the debt to HMRC for V.A.T. and remove the Embargo then there would have been an accurate target to aim for and an incentive to contribute.
There are millions of football fans in the UK so if this appeal could reach as many of them as possible and if they chip in just a £5 or even a £1 then a decent sum could be raised.

It can't do any harm for the Trust to have a war chest to use in the future and it has got more publicity for the club's situation.
Is it enough on it's own? Hoping people will click the link and donate their hard earned during a financial crisis is a bit of a punt. The hardcore will give what they can because we love the club but others will be harder to convince.
What other methods could be used to raise substantial funds quickly?

I’m also a little confused about the purpose of this ‘fund’.
Reading between the lines, my assumption is that this is basically a pot of money to set up a phoenix club if we go bust? I can’t think of another scenario where the sort of sum we’d be talking about would be useful.

You can't put it all down to whingeing...folk were puzzled and confused by the comment in the last paragraph in the statement that mentions a fans zone etc. I know the current situation is dire and the outcome is still unclear. But once any meaningful meeting goes ahead, with the BOD and/or the Trust and we know a decision has been reached....then I and probably many others will be willing to donate to save our club...

It’s not at all whinging, it’s confusion as to where my money would be going.
I’d donate 100s to help the club with admin costs etc., but certainly not to put up a gazebo outside the stadium.
Heard from other trustees that the funds aren’t intended to cover admin costs, buy a share etc., just that that’s the way of marketing it in order to drum up attention.
Very confused!
