i'd kind of assumed the credit crunch had put the mokkers on it (i'd in fact heard on the terraces that persimmon were lined up to buy the old ground and had pulled out).

Revised plans submitted last week for September's planning approval.

Various offers on the table to buy CP, not just Persimmon!

For a new build that is quite nice would be very pleased if ours looked similar.

Only on hold to ensure that there is enough time to get ALL the work done. It could well start before then is my info but to have it ready for next season was always going to be a tough call. I'm sure we all would prefer a ground that is 100% right in all areas rather than a partial building site or whatever.

We've waited a long time for such a development; another 12 months isn't going to make that much difference.

Remember that by the start of a 4th season in the FL every ground has to have a minimum number of seats. Accy are getting really concerned that they will not be in a position to meet this deadline and even if they do why go to the expence when existing gates dont warrant it?

At least we will not be in that position.......hopefully!

Im not so keen on the massive gaps in the corners between stands in these new grounds, doesnt look as good and has and will have negative impact on atmosphere.

What about the cost to fill 'em in?

The fact that the stadium will not be all-seater means that no grants are available, or are very small.

So the entire project has to be funded from private finance.

Really hope the new ground goes ahead, but speaking to someone in the building/housing business a couple of days ago, he said the costings now, compared to 18 months ago would have gone up massively. He also said that to sell CP to a company for housing would now be very difficult. 18 months ago firms were outbidding each other for plots, now they are running scared. He had no connections with the club but seemed to know what he was talking about.

Investors still buy land knowing that they will make a good return in the future.

Such such businesses known a 'Land banks'

I predict within 5 years, after an initial fall in the value of property, there will be an increase in value on today's valuations of around 25%.

This country still has a shortage of living accommodation, which will only further encourage house prices when we are currently seeing the building firms slowing down new house production. This is only going to further squeeze up prices with the shortages becoming more acute.
The fact that this town is beginning somewhat of a resurgence "Brighton of the north", will, I believe, help to lessen the initial drop in house valuations.

That said, the land at Christie Park is a sound future investment. Had I the money to invest I would.

Have heard that the Catholic church on Westgate is to close. How does that affect the new ground re access etc?
