O/T Southport in the money..... again!
Posted: Tue Aug 12, 2008 3:21 pmIt looks as though Southport are about to sell winger Noone for £110K to Plymouth despite him only having played 1 game for the Haig Avenue club at the weekend. Noone joined Southport as part of the exodus from Burscough along with manager Watson some 6 weeks ago. Whether Bursco' will receive any of the transfer fee remains to be seen.
Noone who is only 20 is regarded as a better prospect by some (but not all) than Sammy's confirmed fellow Sandgrounder target Duffy. However, according to Watson, Sammy has made no further approaches during the last week and as far as he is concerned there is no deal...at the moment.
If you look at it in purely financial terms as to a players capabilities, it would appear that Noone is a better aquisition than Baker especially as he is only 20.
However, what is certain is that on reflection and based on Noone's projected value, we got one hell of a bargain in CB especially as we only got half a season out of him.
