Best wishes to the lad, but it's one of the worst types. I'm sure the world of football will be behind him in his battle against this dreaded disease.

Adam will be familiar to lots of Shrimps having played in that memorable Conference Promotion Final in 2007.

I saw that on Sky Sports News last night.

He had been out of the team for a while and they didnt know what was the reason.

Lets hope it has been found in time.

Terrible news, but let's hope that Adam gets through it and makes a speedy recovery.

I'm sure everybody on SVs wishes him well.

Horrible disease and especially so in someone so young who has obviously looked after himself and had a good diet etc.

I know we all have our 'pet charities' and personally I find it easier to give to 'less sexy' ones than the more common ones. For example, Alzheimer's or physical disabilities charities get massively less amounts of donations compared to cancer & hospice charities. That said, a donation to Christie's Challenge may help people to beat or at least, cope with this disease and is a tangible mark of respect to Adam, beyond just 'I hope you beat it'?

Sorry to hear about this. Rivalries and the like go out of the window when something like this happens. Like his former team mate Chris Todd, I truly hope he makes a full recovery and that we all get the chance to applaud him the next time he takes to the field against us.

Thought some of you may be interested in the following:-

Adam Stansfield's operation was a success and the striker is now recuperating in hospital.

The 31-year-old was diagnosed with bowel cancer earlier this month and went into the RD & E in the City last week for an operation to remove a bit of his colon.

"The operation was a success," said Exeter City vice-chairman, Julian Tagg. "Stanno was up when we visited this afternoon and looking happy but tired. He was even cracking a few jokes!

"He is extremely grateful to all the well-wishers over the last few weeks. He is also very thankful that he is now being allowed to rest and recuperate so he can return to action as soon as possible."

She couldn't find him, apparently. Said something about being around the world looking for him. Should have logged onto their website.

Great news - good luck Adam.
