I'd agree, MON is a great shout, especially as he has just resigned!

I take it that his no reason for leaving starts with James and ends with M.

I think if he gets £30m for Milner then that's a good bit of business, I think Ireland is a better player anyway so if he was getting him as part of the deal then it's a real bargain. I assume that MON wasn't going to get the full transfer fee from the Milner deal, so has thrown his toys out of the pram and handed in his resignation (maybe he didn't expect the board to accept it and just back down in a Clough esc situation?). Bit of an own goal on MON's part I think, he'll have to move abroad if he wants to manage a bigger club than Villa in the next couple of years, and I'm not sure his international reputation is good enough to get him a top job.

I heard a rumour this afternoon that it wasn't so much to do with James Milner, but more to do with Tottenham bidding for Ashley Young and it being accepted without Martin O'Neil knowing. I've not heard anything on that since, but I have seen that Nicky Shorey has been sold to West Brom. Maybe they're having a few money problems at Villa Park???

He's a man of principle, so if that has happened then I wouldn't blame him for walking away.

He'll become a regular pundit, probably on MotD and make more money than as a manager but still be able to point out he was more successful as a manager than any of the other pundits!

Bit of a habit for Coppell. Didn't he leave Man City after about 6 games in the mid 90's ??!!!

He left City after about 33 days. I heard on the radio this evening that he 'officially' only took up his duties @ BCFC less than a month ago!

Would be difficult for him to achieve anything like he did at Reading again.
Peaked! Never to peak again. Shame really, seems a good bloke. Although he doesn't get
excited about now't! :?
