If it's Vista, are you sure it said there were errors or was it asking you to confirm the installation went OK? Not all programs inform Vista they have installed OK so Vista asks. Tried to run it? Does it work?

Hi, not got the game myself yet, waiting for my new computer next week but I remember reading something on the SI/Football manager forum about needing to activate it before you can play it. Could this be the problem? Sounds a bit of a pain but I guess its something to do with copyright issues.

Bit of a long shot but have you tried to run the setup routine directly from the CD rather than auto-start? If you can find the installation program (open autorun.inf on the CD with notepad to see what it does) then right-click run-as-administrator.
