Did Stimmo play for you lads?

Stimmo did Dave, yes. Two seperate spells.

1986/87 season to early on in 1988/89 when he was sold to Colne Barleymows.

He then had another very brief spell in 1995/96 season.

A record transfer fee when we bought him from Gateshead. A record transfer fee received when we sold him to Colne Dynamos.
The club found his wife a job as Eddie Weldrake's secretary at Hydro Carbons as part of the package to sign him !
In the GMAC cup semi final which was played on a Sunday lunchtime against Weymouth Stimmo scored a stunning own goal.

Brought in by Eric Whalley as his Player / Assistant Manager in the Summer of '88, he didn't last long here.

He'd played in the Football League though prior to dropping down to our (then) NPL level:

Gary Buckley was in the management team at one point and as such he had a sponsored motor car.

After he was dismissed a board member had to risk life and limb by going to a very rough estate to re-possess the car !

Indeed, I've actually got the actual press photograph at home of his car being handed over to him.

The picture shows Les Taylor (then Commercial Manager) and the late Ken Parker of Cumberland View Garage (then club / shirt sponsor) handing over the keys of a shiny new VW Polo to Buckley who is stood there resplendant(ish) in Morecambe's brand new kit for the 1988/89 season, sponsored by CVG.

And my goodness, Mr Buckley's kit barely looks big enough for him. What a tight squeeze.... He looks happy though. As you would do. Securing an Assistant Manager role at Morecambe with a club car, then in the Northern Premier League, and struggling financially!!!

We all have Human Rights, but they come with Human Responsibilities. Ignore the latter and you risk losing the rights to the former.

People who campaign for equality and freedom of speech amaze me. Disagree with them, and you'll be shouted down.

Tony Quinn in his second spell with us, 1990/91 season.

Also known as Captain Caveman at the time...
