Mullin used to be in the academy at Liverpool didnt he? He probably knows the staff quite well.

Superb game and excellent entertainment.

Liverpool's "away" following (from our area  ) in the away end was smaller than I expected.

Roll on next week !! :D

A good workout by a technically superior team than ourselves and was the perfect preseason opposition to provide a number of different problems for our lads. Its doubtful that we will meet another so technically competent team in league 2 this comingvseason.

For me there are still Issues to be resolved. The defence at times looked very unsure of itself and our delivery into the box needs working on. Paz's distribution is not that good and on numerous occasions he over hit the ball out offence. Fleming was yet again guilty of too many back passes but when going forward he showed some good touches. The new midfield in which Wildig was again outstanding could be the key to a successful season. Up front both Mullers and Kevin worked hard but I was surprised that the triallist didn't get much game time and not so sure how Jim and Ken can make any judgement on such a short time on the pitch. For me he's too lightweight and doesn't appear to offer anything different and is most certainly not the power house that forme we so badly need. If only we're could bring in someone of the likes of a certain former Bolton and Preston striker.

Maybe by this time next week Jim has got his man, if not it could be a struggle until he does.

Thought the midfield and the link up play was excellent today, although I don't think Murphy has got in to 3rd gear yet. Great 1st half and we should have scored 2 or 3. We created loads of chances but we can't rely on 1 striker, surely?
Not sure about the 2 centre backs today, there seemed to much space between and neither can pass straight!
I think Kev will play just as much as last season cos that's how it is.
Wildig is looking better by the day.
Not enough time for Miller to make any impact, he was on the team photo so maybe he's here rather than Stevenage..

4.5.1 for me at Hartlepool, as Dugdale hasn't played much.
Back 4 is obvious, just any 5 from 9 for the midfield

Miller held the ball up and linked up well and looked dangerous wildig will be the first name on the team sheet barring injuries and suspensions and mullin was a constant threat and is it me or has he put a bit of muscle on he looks quicker also

5 of the Liverpool starting 11 yesterday featured in their 4-0 defeat at Chester during the past week.

I liked the look of Jerome Sinclair and as a few others have commented, wouldn't mind him coming on loan to gain some FL experience.

Re - Jerome Sinclair, dream on! He has turned down a new Liverpool contract, has a season to go and imo will probably be sold to a championship or possibly even Premiership club before January BUT football is a strange old game.

IMHO we picked the wrong opponents for our final friendly.

League 2 teams are not going to play like a Liverpool development squad.

We should have had a game against a northern League 1 club and that would have replicated the sort of games we can expect this season.
