The Perfect Match

The Perfect Match

There once was a man, a very lonely man who had known much sadness and anguish in his life, particularly when watching his local football team.
He saw them drawing a game until the 94th minute when they conceded a late winner, or when they were 2-1 up and then lost 3-2, the game that stood at 0-0 when his team missed a penalty in the 93rd minute, or the game where the opposition are down to ten men for a large part of the game and his team miss another penalty........

All this man ever asked for was one match, one time, one moment when the sadness and anguish would fade away and the negatives would become positives to make the perfect match for his team, when passes would not go astray, free kicks would be on target, penalties would be scored and his team would be fearless and brave and that finally he would not have another weekend totally ruined by the cruel twist of fortune.
