Really gone off the boil last few times I've seen him play.

Hopefully his lack of influence is a dip... class is forever, form is temporary

Shouldn't have had his hair cut..

7th to 12th very quickly, big game Saturday with Rovers on our tails

Accy flying

Don't think it was, shinnanninnigins at the end of the game, John Still bollocking his backroom staff big style and Kenny having a go at nearly everyone.
No trophy presentation from what I saw.
May be we hoped they would forget about it

Appaently the Eric Morecambe trophy was a one season event .

Oh well at least we have something in the trophy cabinet .

Second half Luton sat back and we played sideways and lacked and creativity to open them up.

Our tactics from the beginning was to hit them on the break; it's a good tactic as we have pace in the team. But the tactic falls apart when you can't defend set pieces and concede the first goal.

Personally I don't want to see three CB at home as it looks and is a bit negative. I can't understand why we've put Parrish in alongside Edwards and Dugdale when the laters kept a clean-sheet at Oxford?

Agree with all this. Definitely gone back to last season's performances.

Why are we conceding so many corners? Surely it's better not to concede so many in the first place. There've been games with 10-15 corners against us, however good our defence, we'll always give a goal away if there's so many corners. I really, really hope that it's not part of the management's plan - i.e. concede a corner and then hit them with our pace when they've got all their players at our goal end!

What was Jim doing with Paz yesterday? He did the same one match last season where Paz was constantly moved around with different formations, and it didn't work then either. We desperately need some consistency with formations. And yes, midfield missing yesterday for the first time this season.

I was sat there yesterday thinking nothing's changed from last year's mid season bad run, with hoofball, no midfield, etc. Not at all convinced in Beeley as captain as there doesn't seem to be any "on pitch" management from him at all. I'm only hoping that Murphy is back sooner rather than later and is allowed to make an impact and brings things together again.

Was Jim thinking 'squad rotation'?

He rotated it so much we ended up a tangled mess.

All the old miserable grumbles surfaced tonight.

Stop tinkering Jim - Beeley is a right back, Parrish a centre back, Kenyon is a sub! Goodall, player of the season so far on the bench, is he injured?

We have quick, creative players in midfield, so why not pass the ball to them instead of lumbering out of the box and hoofing unimaginative longballs up to forwards who can't head the ball?

It was awful, Luton deserved to win.

Any news on Mullin's injury? Definately a game changer losing him as he was brilliant first half.

We each have our views.I thought Edwards and Fleming were poor last night and Ellison was far more effective than Mullen who for me is an impact sub. I said leave Kev on the bench and start Mullen but it didn't work.
The bottom line is although we had some good spells again we gave away soft goals

Kevin did well when he came on.

He got amongst them and got in their faces , drawing a yellow card for McNulty.

You could count the amount of times Kev had the ball on one hand. He wasnt in the game whereas Mullin was causing problems with his movement, dropping deep and running in behind.

I thought the ref had left his cards at home. Luton and Mcfatty in particular got away with an awful lot.

I have no problem with people disagreeing with my view, fair play, we all watch the same game and see different things.

However,
I always try to consider the strength of the opposition and how they played. They were a good side, McCourt is a Norn Iron international and ran us ragged, and Mackail Smith is a quality signing, both are on enormous money for our level. The rest of them have all been around a bit and quite a few at higher level. They were very professional and did job on us, we had built up a head of steam and had the goal chalked off and they realized and started "buying" free kicks, subs, injuries etc and the pace of the game and our comeback stalled. Experience?

Its quite amusing that people are taking a selection of quotes from three of us commenting without having the benefit of the rest of our comments through the game. Keith, because he is positive person, takes the positive ones, others take the negative ones we comment on.
The defending was awful for all the goals, and that's what we said. Some players looked jittery, that's what we said.
The general concensus is that Luton shaded the first half and we shaded the second, but we have to be better, more assertive in defense and less diffident in midfield. All this was said on the night, but isn't written here.

So feel free to disagree with half a dozen comments by the three of us, but please understand its not the whole picture.

Can we beat the Gas?
Hope so.

Overall they were better.
Well organised and came to exploit our defensive weaknesses and they all looked comfortable. That's what money does.Too many times it was hit and hope from us.
Gas are going to be a tough one.

While I'm happy to say that I'm more drawn to the positives than negatives, I have also quoted the Player crew in this thread as saying:

Keith wrote:"Far too easy"
"Must do better than that"

A soft corner to concede and a free header for their lad.

Freez: "Wildig hasn't touched the ball yet"

Keith wrote:Then less than two minutes later, they had a bit of luck after a couple of 'half tackles'. Shot saved by Baz but the bounce fell nicely for their lad.

Obviously, if I'm not at a game, I'm just selecting key moments to quote during the game. That is for anyone on the forum during the match who isn't listening to Player. There are a few of those, in particular when we are away from home.

Player's 'style' is like a bunch of lads who you are stood next to at the match, with frequent outbursts of complete bollocks. Or indeed sexist comments that got in the way of the commentary until concentration on the game was restored! It isn't the 'ball by ball' style commentary of a 'professional'. It is noticeably different when Quinny does the commentary as part of Radio Lancashire, which is far more 'traditional'. "Different" isn't necessarily "better" or "worse", just different.
“Britain faces a simple and inescapable choice - stability and strong Government with me, or chaos with Ed Miliband: ".

David Cameron. May 4th 2015.
So how did that work out then?

Agree with Freez. We were not awful last night, until the last 10 mins there was nothing in it. McCourt was a class act and Mackiel Smith was a good player in the championship and to good for this league. Not sure we can compete with that sort of spend. Yes the goals we gave away could perhaps have been avoided, especially the first but we competed pretty well.
