Away Attendances

Postby marky No.1 » Sun Aug 09, 2015 10:15 am

This is compiling the numbers of travelling fans in L2 this season.
We took 247 yesterday which will be amongst our higher numbers, but we were still the lowest of the day

Sounds about par. We are normally in the bottom two for away attendances. Still a decent turn-out by our standards!

Teams with three or four times the crowds you get struggle to bring 250 to Hartlepool so considering its about 1/6 of your home support its not bad. Where probobly going to be selling out 2000 tickets for York next week but we can draw on 4000-5000 fans.

247 is around what Accrington Stanley usually bring so to take that many to Hartlepool is a decent effort.

Some massive trips for supporters this week

Many clubs cannot afford hotel costs and so fatigue comes in to play and the lack of fans able to travel to support their team can affect revenue.

It may be the fourth tier of English football but 84 Yeovil fans, 190 Bristol Rovers fans, 284 Carlisle fans, 318 Oxford fans, 295 Luton fans and 69 Barnet fans show that this league is powerful in more ways than one.

It may not provide Premier League attendances but it does produce die hard fans that go through all sorts of obstacles to watch their team.

A 500 mile round trip may seem crazy on a Tuesday night but as long as the Football League continue to choose mammoth trips for the atmosphere under the floodlights, then fans in the lower league will continue to make sacrifices.

Our 247 at Hartlepool will be reduced to an average of about 120 after Yeovil, Portsmouth, Newport and Oxford, but Carlisle next week should bolster the numbers back up a bit..

Still not enough Rovers fans to open the terrace :(

When we played them at The Globe last time (season they went down) they brought quite a few if I remember rightly? Away end was definitely open.

May have brought a few in December, but there was still only a total of 1514

Policy has certainly changed now, not just with us but many others... if there are less than around 500 expected then seating only!

Can't see it being opened even on Boxing Day and then how many will Pompey bring on 9th January? :?

Should be open in February for Carlisle, then maybe Hartlepool and York if they are in the mix late on

Wouldn't like to be first in the queue for the beer

Some Gasheads think they will outnumber us tomorrow
