Our Ambition as a club

Realistically, we just need to tread water for a few more years yet, do enough to stay in the league, hopefully with some good cup matches every year or two, aim to stay just above mid table, maybe the occasional play-off place for extra interest. The club is losing half a million per year, and losing regular supporters, so it's not realistic to expect a promotion just yet. The directors are already putting their hands in their pockets to cover the losses just to keep us treading water.

Before thinking of a big promotion push, we need to get spectator numbers rising again, we need to sort out a decent sponsorship and renaming of the ground, we need to get the artificial pitches, function rooms and training/community aspects of the club to really start bringing in decent money. Once the club's finances are on a more even keel, it will have the foundations for a big push for promotion and to maintain a L1 position.

It's still early days for the stadium finances - slow progress and we're still a way off it being self-financing. We've got to be grateful that the directors are keeping it afloat from a financial perspective until things start to come together.

Don't want to be negative myself but getting back all the lost supporters & new ones is a big task on it's own. The days when we took over 1k to Sheff Utd in the cup have gone for the time being. Probably take years to get back the support we once had at Christie Park. The only way I see us getting back some of the regulars is for us to play attractive football at home week in week out & a good all round atmosphere on the terraces. Risk is we could stay in league 2 with our dwindling crowds and can't finance players we want to compete still in league two. Whichever angle you look at it we still need finances whichever league we are in.

This is a myth, crowds at Christie Park in the Conference were better than they are now. Crowds of 1200 - 1300 on a Saturday were common place.

How many did we take to Wembley ? Surely another trip there in the JPT or the play offs would bring a lot of fans back !

Success for me this season, is to get back to winning ways with the best team we have had, but we need to to be playing attacking footy, plus having the w/l suite filled with fans and sponsors having had an experience that will make them return [also maybe invest in a new mic,at the mom award so that fans can actually hear what is going on] and if we manage to get to the playoffs or above as we are capable of doing.

Fans want to be entertained and see goals. The only other way to attract bigger crowds is to achieve some success. The Morecambe public aren't interested in the club unless they start to produce something to make them talk and track back down to the ground on a Saturday.

We have the players this year, apart from a true experienced striker, to play the entertaining football.

There is no frisson of anticipation any longer in the way there used to be at Christie Park. It was non league but it was exciting. Things like the burger vans have been replaced with 'nothing' The 'singers' stopped being an enjoyable bunch and devolved into something that nobody wanted to associate with, culminating with that debacle the other week. Maybe it's time for me to hang my boots up, stay at home and keep the cat company in front of the fire with a cup of bovril instead of freezing my nuts off on the terraces. Along with all the other oldies who have fallen by the wayside, we won't be missed :)

Why do we keep questioning the ambition of the board? They gave us what we wanted (League footy) and we seem now more miserable than before!

Our crowds are dwindling to Conference levels at best, which is very worrying. Lots of factors as to why, but without growing crowds, we should really forget about promotion.

Hopefully we can finally get some home form and go on a bit of a FA cup run. Without something like this I can't see our 'ambition' improving. Shame, as a few seasons in L1 would be great as its mainly northern teams.

Longtime fan here doing my bit to drum up support. Had a season ticket for far too long to remember! I work in Blackpool and on Tuesday night had 3 fans come from there to watch. Unfortunately they don't get hooked enough by the poor football we play at home. Having said that 1 from Blackpool and 2 from Brum are attending today! :D

In terms of attendances, we also need to factor in how southern based League Two is. If we did get in to League One, we could expect far larger away crowds due to it being so much more northern.

Our 'hard-core' fan base hasn't increased much since the move from Christie Park, but I don't think it was expected to. The off-field income was supposed to be the way forwards.

I'd love to see a good FA Cup run to bring in money & excite fans. Going out in the First Round can be pretty disastrous.

Always hit and miss in respect of the draw but that's what adds to the excitement. However, we cannot expect to survive on the occasional big match alone. we have to count those as a bonus if they come along.

After the Championship, there should be North and South Leagues, this IMO is the only way of raising attendances.

Let's hope we don't get drawn against an average or good non-league team!
