- Four pints [or shorts/softies] each per night [16 pints @ c£3 a pint]

- Evening entertainment [same jokes every night! Good excuse for a few in the Tivoli ]

Reyt excited. :)

Hope the Lancaster Canal won't have burst its banks for our 'cruise' on Tuesday.

What's the weather going to like in Morecambe between 14-18 December.

Your in luck. I've just conducted a reading of the sky and we've got wall to wall sunshine all next week, possibly lasting until Xmas; temperatures will be average for this time of year between 76-78 degrees centigrade.

Don't forget your bucket and spade and swimming stuff. You might find the beaches a little crowded though, the trick is to get down really early and secure your spot.

Cheers. :)
Morecambe's always been known for its favourable microclimate. Glad nothing's changed much. ;)

Looks like we could be enjoying plenty of Samuel Smith's finest in The Tivoli. :)

Had a v.enjoyable few days at The Strathmore. Not too much rain and mild temperatures were a bonus.

A few highlights...

- Nowhere anywhere can beat a long walk along the prom.

- No plastic bags flying all over the place, makes for an immediate positive.

- Never thought I'd see Morecambe with a Parisian bar. Très bon!

- The Daddy of all burgers advertised outside the D & P looked tempting. So did the £2 for a pint of Carlsberg.

- Eric was looking as splendid as ever. He had seagull crap on his forehead though.

- A Stagecoach Day Rider for £4.90. Great vfm for visitors.

- Had to laugh at the Nag's Head on Church Street, now being called The Study Room. Obviously attracts a different type of customer now. :)

A few disappointments...

- The Midland is looking great on the inside, but from outside the paintwork is turning into a filthy mess, and the closer you get to it the worse it looks. Needs serious attention.

- Sam's Chippy still shut.

- Where's The Broadway Hotel gone? I knew it has closed, but wasn't expecting it to have disappeared! Can't demolish the memories though.

- Arndale Shopping Centre with its empty units looked a bit of a sorry sight.

- The Visitor Office on Victoria Street was all boarded up and almost hidden from view. Shrimper's not locked in there is he?

- Closest we got to The Globe was admiring that rusty girder at the top of Regent Road.

- Yorkshire Street, oh dear. :( Even the pies from Thurlwell's didn't taste as yummy as they usually do.

- Didn't see any advertising of Morecambe FC or evidence that the town had a football club anywhere.

- The Greaves Hotel is no more, just a façade left. More Assisted Housing?

- Squire's Snooker Club has gone too. More Student Accommodation?

Knocked down at the end of 2014 by McArthy and Stone to build retirement housing.
The project appears to have stalled, similar to what Daffodil Homes did to Heysham police station, now just like a bomb site surrounded by wooden hoardings, nice.

Like you say, can't demolish the memories, though there's some I'd prefer disappeared.

It needs a good jet-wash then, a damn good jet-wash!

That was our 13th Shearings break, 3rd time to The Strathmore. Tenby and Torquay next month.
They help fill in the gaps between more serious adventures much further afield.

One of the evening entertainers last week was a terrific vocalist called Mark-Andrew Smith...

Click on the Demos tab, and have a sneak at his videos.

Also had a local girl with a big voice on called Rachel Mercer...

Thanks.
Another disappointment was seeing Skerton School closed and boarded up. Yet another scar on the landscape.
