Travel Info for 20/10

Postby crawleyfan » Mon Oct 19, 2015 10:26 am

Hi

Crawley fan in peace here.

On football ground guide it states to avoid Lancaster because of long term sewer works. Is that still the case? I missed our last drubbing because of holiday and don't want to be late for this one.

Cheers

Absolutely the case mate, yes. Although not sewer works this time.

I would STRONGLY advise to avoid completely the Lancaster turn offs on the M6 (J33 and J34)

Your best bet is to head up the M6 to the next junction, J35, and follow the signs to Morecambe from there.

We have ongoing roadworks in the area for a new bypass which is being built and it is travel HELL in and out of Lancaster.

Safe journey.

Who remembers when we sort of became twinned with Crawley in the early 90s?
Something to do with our grounds not being up to standards!

I remember one game vividly Hodgie. 1993/94 season away at Hyde United on that crappy plastic pitch they had and we won 3-2 and we played in that wonderful all white Asics away strip !

Think there were about 5 lads from Crawley came up to that one in total.

With us - anything is possible. You're right though, I should have said "game" rather than "one".
Our defence is currently not to bad, especially since Josh Yorwerth has come on loan. He's a class player. Our midfield is fairly non-existent but hopefully Gwion Edwards will turn it on again and one pf our "forwards" will remember why they're at that end of the pitch.

As for attendance, if one of you take shoes and socks off that might be enough to count our support.
We'll "treat" you to our Tuesday away song though.

I drive from Manchester for home games, and I've given up on the midweeks due to the nonsense traffic. It's unbelievably bad, you'll need to leave the better part of an hour to get from Lancaster to Morecambe. It's not much better getting back either.

Hello Crawleyfan,
It depends what time you hit Lancaster. After 6.30/7 you should get through ok, if you are planning on being earlier as previously said go a bit further north and drop back, although the lights in Carnforth can snarl things up too.
On the way home go through Lancaster to motorway it'll be clear enough at that time.
Safe journey.

On the way up, I'd carry on to Carnforth regardless of the time. The Asda roundabout can snarl up too, especially with the temporary lights by McDonalds.

Agree, on the way back should be fine going towards Lancaster.

Sooner the bypass is finished, the better!

Hi Crawley fan. Bit of advice also if your driving park in the car park signed in the housing estate on the approach to the ground. In recent weeks a minority of young idiots between 14-18 who aren't supporters just live local have been hanging round trying to cause trouble with away fans. Away supporters are always welcome in the pub outside the stadium and our fans are as friendly as anyone but after the Northampton game I saw 3 of their fans getting stick of a number of youths who parked on the estate and was offered a straightener, so park as close as possible to the stadium !

Isn't Westgate primary school still accommodating away fans in their car park?

Yeah should be not sure if it will be midweek games tho ? Best to walk along the main road if parking there. Some idiots knocking about in that estate after the games lately !

Safe journey home, don't think Yates and his constant foul language did you much use tonight.
Well done to the 33 of you who made sure we got safely over 1000

Thanks for all the help. Good game spoiled by defensive lapses.
Got back at 0215 via Lancaster.
