Win at home and the crowds will return. Our home form since moving to The Globe is awful and a massive factor. On a positive note there were 5 young lads playing football on the local park. One was wearing a Barcelona shirt. one a Man U and the other three were all in Morecambe tops.

Got 2 main meals, 2 beers and a glass of wine for £23 in the Hurley Flyer, where there were quite a few dining or just drinking and this was supposed not to be MFC customers/competition.
Will also go for 2 meals for £10 on Saturday to the Wm Mitchell

The removal of FCom discount hasn't helped.

To put it into perspective though, the Chelsea fan that was here a couple of weeks ago paid £225 for him and his 2 kids last night without food

Why don't we go into local schools in the town offering child tickets for £10 as long as a parent came come free for every ticket that gets sold. This would benefit everyone, is affordable and keeps the kids off the streets and even may lead to people other people coming along. Go into local businesses also with the same offer of a adult ticket of similar price and send flyers round the towns shops restaurants n other places.

I believe that the club eroded a lot of goodwill it built up over the years by building such a poor home end with the facilities and view being poorer than at Christie. The quality of football has declined up until recently, partly because the football is more competitive, but I think we'd have held on to more supporters for a lot longer had the club attempted to replicate the North Stand at the Globe. The PMG stand is great, but it provides a comparable matchday experience to many local clubs higher up the leagues for a similar price. Some people dissatisfied with the home end migrated to the seats, other people have stopped going entirely.

I almost take that as a given seven years later and there's sod all we can do about it. We all know the home end is much worse than the North Stand, and in a way that none of the directors will really understand because they never experienced it say against Bradford, Crewe (4-3), Dagenham, Ipswich etc. and compared it to games at the Globe.

Having said all that for people new to the club, and there will be many, this isn't a factor.

Don't tax credits affect other benefits?

https://www.gov.uk/how-tax-credits-affect-other-benefits

So if tax credits are reduced, then other benefits might go up.

That's not true. So few people get Universal Credit, because of IDS's screwed up IT project, that it makes no difference. Housing benefit goes directly to landlords, child benefit is fixed, and there are now no other benefits. The Institute for Fiscal Studies, an organisation with more resources than internet ranters with little interest in Morecambe FC, have weighed up the net effect of all benefit changes and proven a £260 average cut for 13 million and £1,000 for about 3 million.

It could be a number of reasons why people don't attend. No money, The Globe or work Commitments. With kids at school as well, crowds are more than likely to be down. Also fans may live a distance away rather than on the doorstep and may not be able to get to the Globe due to distance & finishing work. Number of perfectly good reasons why people don't attend in mid week. I think we have to look at other ways to get more people to the Globe, Carry on playing entertaining football that surely will attract a few more back old or new. Other ways is more advertising towards uni, Discounts for single people on job seekers as Bury do it. Maybe NHS discount which may attract students working at the infirmary. Just little things like this can make a difference.

Not being on a regular major bus route from Lancaster/Scale Hall is another factor.

In hindsight a better idea would have been to put a business plan forward to a lender and build a new main stand down the Car Wash side that included the proper banqueting facilities etc and a supporters bar on the main Lancaster Road.

Posh, Child Credits were introduced by the ruinous Gordon Brown weren't they?

It allowed for rock-bottom wages to be topped-up by taxpayers.

The annual costs to the taxpayer has spiralled into £Billions. So with borrowing still out of control, George Osborne has little choice.

Brown knew this at the outset, made millions of voters part-dependent on the state, and so created a political mantrap.

Osborne's now got to try and find a way of softening the blow to the most vulnerable.

It might now be Tory government's problem, but it was Labour who created it!

And it fuelled inflation and higher property/rental prices, so in effect people weren't any better off. Income increased but so did costs.

last years average of 1998 was 270 fans down on five years ago, I fear a larger decline this season than in the previous 4.

The population of Morecambe and Heysham is about 50,000
Give that it has an old population, a relatively deprived population then 2% of that as a turnout on a school night is probably not that bad.
I think we need to be realistic. There is a very small population and we are a long way from places.
Not being defeatist just realistic.

Not to worry, we will soon have 90 new families next door who won't need transport or directions. Their letterboxes should get some stick when they move in.

Very rich comrade! The last time I checked, the seat of Morecambe and Lunsdale was held by a conservative politician.... Last time I heard he was personally digging us a new road.

Working tax credits are a tax payer funded subsidy for low wages and a political bribe introduced by the newold Labour Party that has spiralled out of control. Unfortunately recipients have become over reliant on them to the extent that this could be really damaging to people trying to get on in life that they are being so abruptly taken away. We need to ween people off state dependency, but not like this.
Hello! Hello! We are the Morecambe boys!

what party was in power in 1974 ,the year when the victorious shrimps started the season with A TROPHY IN THECABINET FROM WEMBLEY!, were the conservatives or labour reponsible for the appalling turn out to start the 74/75 season? No, and its got nothing to do with politics now either!

I argue my case. Why should you call that one-sided? If someone is economical with the truth then why do you have a problem in someone trying to balance the truth out.

How many sides do you see with your political views?

After the scratching shed at Christie, how many years was our absolutely wonderful North Stand there for? The home end is currently better than pre north stand and plenty of people stood on that! I don't see a problem with the ground as its basically a new version of Christie Park with a different pitch orientation. I,m just glad that the ground wasn't built in Heysham as once proposed as it,s so difficult to get a bus anywhere in Morecambe!! :? So funny to see the Government of the day getting the blame for our poor attendances..that's just amazing. Perhaps Tyson Fury can campaign for our MP with a promise to put more bums on seats at the Globe (or whatever it will be called then)

Because there are two sides to every story, which you seem to not grasp. This was about attendances but it has changed to a political nightmare forum, ever since tax credits was brought up earlier in which the tories had to be right. Whatever I say you disagree & I likewise. THE END.

Do you not count Lancaster as well, it's not like lancaster city are packing them in? Basically anywhere that's closer to morecambe than it is to preston or kendal should be your target. Special bus service from other parts of morecambe/lancaster should pay for itself too - the morecambe nightclubs i remember from my student days managed that for students from lancaster university

Let's all stop panicking for now. The team is in decent form, if it continues the club will get more people through the doors no doubt. If the lads an Jim keep the results coming and stay in an around the play offs or get a cup then things will be fine. Consistency on the pitch always bring stability off it ! Hopefully this thread will get bumped in a few months time when attendances are higher and were on the verge of promotion, stay positive people !
