Raising seating prices will bring in fewer people and make the atmosphere even worse. There are always huge gaps in C D and E so raising prices is the economics of the madhouse.

Just like the council raising car park charges when fewer people are parking in the car park thus creating a downward spiral year on year!

Prices are already higher to sit than to stand, and the prices in D are more than in E, with C being higher still. That's a good range of pricing options depending on how much you value the view and a seat.

Actually it doesn't. It was a one-off and people came because it was free. That doesn't mean that half of them would spend even a fiver to get in. As for breaking eve, as had been said on another thread (Marky No.1 please!), the turnover was similar, but the costs were higher due to the increased staffing, so it cost money to do it over having only say 1200 paying punters in.

I don't think we should repeat the Dagenham "freebie" but Tuesdays gate could have been predicted beforehand.

It needed more promotion by the club.

What happened to those great posters that were produced at one time with Jim in his Kitchener pose of "Your Club Needs You". Those should have been put in shops , chips shops , The Arndale , pubs etc.

And with a game on Saturday with Leyton Orient how about a special offer for people of say £20 for both matches etc.

Put all footballers on national minimum wage like most round here and then you'll see a massive difference in the attendance

then all the decent players would just go abroad and play,(bit like the NHS.) and we'd end up like the Belgium leagues or Danish or similar standard.

I think Saturday's attendance will give us a better indication of where we are at, rather than a Tuesday night. Anyone watching the purse strings would have picked the Saturday game over the Tuesday night game this week.

I don't think the fixtures computer has been kind to us this year to be honest, which hasn't helped.

People won't come back over night. We have had a few seasons of turd football really. Really we could do with a nice FA cup run ending in a big game that brings people down to have a look at us again then the marketing team need to do their work and keep them coming.

Well the choice is an easy one, either it changes or it goes bust! I don't care how good anyone thinks they are but even a grand a week is absurd to most normal folk and that's as basic as it gets in the 1st team football world
Always thought that those who are chosen to represent their country should do it out of honour with no money changing hands, tell that to 300 grand a week shrek

You mean that England player who donates his international pay to charity? David Beckham agreed with you. He convinced the rest of the England players to donate appearance money to charity and they've done so ever since. £3,750,000 raised for charities and over 175 personal appearances.

But let's not have the facts get in the way of a rant

Rays of Sunshine children’s charity
The Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK
WellChild
Together for Short Lives
Cancer Research UK
Help for Heroes
The British Forces Foundation
The PFA’s charitable initiatives
Help Harry Help Others.

Most recently the England Footballers Foundation has teamed with Honeypot Children’s Charity to help break down the stigma of being a young carer and highlight the amount of responsibility that these children face on a daily basis.

In October 2014 the players announced a four year partnership with the world’s leading children’s organisation, UNICEF, with an ambition to help tackle malaria.

Mark Hallam used to get them designed and I used to take them round about 80 bars and shops in Morecambe and Lancaster. Used to keep me fit and was always well received. We produce the posters but only get them out in the Globe.

I was just posting the same idea .... A few bill-board adverts of up-coming matches I think would encourage a few more new / lapsed supporters. Plain simple Match Fixtures, at strategic positions where traffic is busy, like Carlisle Bridge/ Lancaster & Morecambe Road. I don't think these have been done recently, at least I've not seen any. Supermarket noticeboards too, Asda, Sainsbury's, Tesco ... and make sure when the new supporters do attend, they have a welcoming, enjoyable experience that they will want to come back to, and bring their mates and families .... I think the club still have a lot of work to do in this respect, to equal the match day experience we had at Christie, but it can be done.

I've still got a lot of those posters stored away in a cupboard somewhere, they were brilliant. Always remember the Jimbo one where he had his hands wrapped up as if he was a boxer for a Boxing Day game vs Southport.

I know it's been said before and it can't be done anymore; but the banner inbetween the lamp posts on the shrimp roundabout was brilliant.

I live on morecambe road near the shrimp and would be happy to put an A frame on my front lawn a day or two prior to home games with the latest fixture on it. if the club did posters.

Agreed about the one on the Shrimp lamp posts.

Also the boards in Asda and Tesco Carnforth used to have a lot of footfall going past them in a week

It has been said thousands of times but the club isn't doing enough to tap into the student market in the area.
£10 for coach travel, ticket to the game, and a drink voucher? Advertised a couple of weeks in advance.

The advertising board before going over Skerton bridge is missed as well I feel. There even used to be a board advertising the next game as you walked into Asda?
'The Bay' adverts are great but the club doesn't seem to have much presence in the community other than that.

Big advert in tonight/tomorrow's Guardian promoting the Corporate Hospitality etc packages available at The Globe in the Business Section of the newspaper.

Could do with some similar big boxed adverts promoting the football too......

Well here we are again, talking about our dwindling attendances. Truth is there is no one factor that is to blame, it is pretty much all of them combined that is causing this worrying trend. Some we can do little about, but many could be solved by the Club or even us fans. Here is what I reckon could be done.

- Season tickets. Keep them cheap (£200 max, maybe even £150?) and allow fans to pay for them in different ways (Direct Debit, installments etc). The Early Bird deal ends way too early (barely after the season ends). I'd have bought one this season but I hadn't even got my wages and got put off whacking it on the credit card due to additional fees. Advertise loads throughout the summer and go all out to get 1000+ sold. This would give us a solid hardcore, or at least some decent money in the bank.

- Match ticket bundles. Morecambe fans never like two matches in a week and I guess a lot of it is down to cost. Why not offer two tickets at a discounted rate whenever we have back to back fixtures? Also sell 5, 10, 15, 20 ticket bundles that can be used for groups or individually in the Club shop.

- Free match every season. It worked so well last time. Why not do it every year? Choose a match like Crawley and get all the casuals through the gate. As a regular its great to see the ground busy. Even if only 10% pay to come back gain during the season, surely its a success?

- Promote and advertise properly. We used a board for games for years. If kept updated properly they really work. I would happily take responsibility for one of them close to me and I am sure the Club could find plenty of other volunteers to do so at other locations in the area. The posters worked too. Post out copies to fans who can put them up around the area and see if this brings in more punters. Get a database of emails and phone numbers and send out a few hours before each match.

- Stop playing midweek games on Champions' League nights. We can never compete, so why not play on Mondays or Thursdays instead?

- Get the little things right. Why do home fans without a season ticket have to walk to the far end turnstile to get in? Why then does it take 10 mins to get through when there is 10 people in front and the match is starting? Why do you get charged 10p more than the menu states for a cup of tea? Why is the beer warm? What happened to the umbrellas to keep us dry at half time? Why are the toilets not clean? Make the Globe more welcoming!

- Win some football matches and play decent football. Jimbo said there was no more he could do, but the fact is we have been crap at home since moving to the Globe and the Crawley game came after 3 straight home defeats. Get some home form and crowds will creep back up.

I suggested a few years ago now about some sort of "money off" scheme for all registered North Lancs League players for them to use when their park games are postponed.

There are HUNDREDS of these players (football fans) in the area who could make use.

Even if we just gave them a pound or two off the admission it's a massive untapped market.

The classy illuminated one got run over.. presume it then belonged to the Hurley Flyer .. maybe could ask them 2 for our 1..

When changing fixtures you have to do it not long after they are announced and agreed by the other Club. Champions League is Tues/Wed., we already moan that Tuesday gives us not much time to prepare from Saturday, so no chance on Monday (the Easter fixture is always changed) and Thursdays are out because - err - it's too close to Saturday.

Could do Thursday/Sunday but

Pretty sure you've described the exact offer the club already pushes at the University; I got to the ground late on Tuesday and there were 4/5 foreign students attempting to order their free beer atthe Omega (it's a tear off voucher that accompanies their ticket), before barman Steve told them that they wouldn't be able to take it into the stand at which point they declined.

We heard of how the club had a presence at freshers fair this season like in previous years. They've been putting on a bus at a cost from campus for over a season now, but the whole offer is still poorly subscribed. To us (Morecambe fans) the deal sounds like a no brainier... Outstanding value, how can it not work?!? Well it clearly doesn't unfortunately, and might be worth targeting other types of people.

When I was a student I worked on Saturdays (ironically at Nottm Forests ground), went to watch Morecambe (the team I actually supported) if they were close by, got lashed or went home for the weekend. Looks like nothing much has changed!

On the assumption that we had 500 season ticket holders at the cheapest s/t price of £220 gross, to maintain current net income levels we would need to achieve the following season ticket sales on the following prices:

£220.00 500
£200.00 550
£180.00 611
£160.00 688
£140.00 786
£120.00 917
£100.00 1100

Obviously you would also need to consider the lost non-season ticket income as more floaters take up the offer the cheaper it goes as a season ticket becomes more cost effective. Its also more complicated when you consider the more expensive season tickets etc.

It would be a big gamble for the club to drop them any lower. Lets be honest, they are a fantastic deal anyway. For £220, we are paying less than £10 per game and get free Morecambe Player!

What may be better would be to allow people to buy a season ticket in instalments over the summer months. £70 per month in June, July & August and a £10 final payment. may increase the sales and give the club income during the summer too.

Keith has suggested more or less what they do at Burnley, it works out at 55 quid a month for 6 months, or can be paid over a year, so in morecambes case, a direct debit of a fiver a week would pay your annual season ticket bill, and for the fans that pay in full, chuck in a free cup bundle, i.e, all the JPT, or LEAGUE CUP, home games, another great idea would be a regular meal deal offer in the W&L, on night matches of £25, for a hospitality meal and match ticket, something needs doing, and its discounts that attract more fans rather than reductions for existing ones, thats needed, desperately

We now have a new commercial manager, WHAT IS HE DOING!
