If there was a cover behind the Omega there could be something like that there, maybe a band or something. How about a warm up man to get the crowd going before the game, get some chants going and lift the atmosphere? If the whole experience lasted longer and had some guaranteed fun then surely more people would come.

Brilliant ideas. They've had the cheer-leaders a couple of times and the "bring me sunshine" singer, but they were performing to an empty C block at half time when everyone was in the W&L, rather than to the terrace where most people were! Must be quite demoralising strutting your stuff in front of a lot of empty red seats! Never really understood why they don't do it in front of the Omega stand like the shrimpettes. Same with the open the box draw.

Yes there is; it was set up by the Plymouth Argyle official supporters club to pay for the wages of non-football staff when the club was in administration (which I believe weren't guaranteed by the administrators), not the club itself.

FCoM has been mentioned earlier in this thread and dismissed as a function that could be of any use in terms of being a voice for the supporters as it is believed the club aren't very engaged with the group. Personally, I think it could be and is very useful, but isn't utilised by many supporters - it is there for all supporters, not just members.

The supporters club does have a dialog with the board which has been steadily improving over recent years. At the start of this season it had a meeting with Rod Taylor, Jim Bentley and Ken McKenna in which they requested assistance in fundraising towards improvements/facilities for the training ground and first team pitch. This has started with the Pitch Perfect fund, £2000 donated so far this season by the fans club to purchase a specialised peace of equipment that will maintain the pitch to an optimum level. Such funds were raised through the annual membership and a very successful race night. Tonight there will be a family night at The Globe (bingo, play your cards right, games, quiz etc) with the aim of raising the remaining £500 that we initially committed to. The donation form this season has been added to the money that was raised last season by the club staff and a few others that cycled to York, enabling the purchase to have taken place.

Unfortunately we (FCoM) don't have a particularly active membership base when it comes to people being participative in anything other than claiming your discount at the Hurley Flyer. Hopefully this changes. The next meeting is Monday 2nd November at The Globe.

I have argued that we should be pushing the club to improve the facilities behind the home end for the fans for a number of years. Pat Stoyles, the former chair, decided to step away from FCoM partly because he was asked by the club to view plans for such a development in a meeting and advised to tell fellow supporters that said development. This was supposed to have happened two seasons ago, two windows had been identified for the work to be definitely completed. I'm sure many have been told or heard something similar in the past, but these things for one reason or another never seem to materialise..... knock knock, who's there?!?.... not Shanghai Clever again! Its obvious that these plans which involve a relatively large capital investment (circa £250k) won't happen anytime soon; if the club won't oblige perhaps we, the fans, should be approaching them with a less costly short to medium tem solution along with fundraising initiatives?

You've got to watch that you don't upset your season in , season out faithful s though. Not everybody feels the same. I worked with a Rovers fan who went absolutely berserk when something similar was done at Blackburn. I think he threw his hand in about it. He bought a full season ticket at the beginning of the season and then they bring out all sorts of cheap deals throughout the season and he was a lot worse off.

For what its worth I think the pre match and half time entertainment needs a refresh. If you are bringing the family who aren't too arsed about the match they need something else that entertains. The current 'Open the Box' and Shrimpettes is exactly the same as it was at Christie Pk. It needs new ideas ; it won't have people rushing back but it might help. I really enjoy it when they have a kids final match on at half time , but something that is interactive with the crowd 'hit the bar' , penalty shoot out - something fairly simple. I don't know about 'open the box I never buy a ticket , but its probably older than me and will never change ?

I went to a Bolton match a couple of seasons ago and they had someone doing children's face painting and another guy doing balloon modelling for the kids. Completely free of charge. Doesn't cost much. We hired a guy for a two hour kids party who did balloons, a disco and party games, all for under £100. It would be cheaper than that for just the balloons as he wouldn't need to bring the sound/light equipment and there'd be less setting up and clearing up time for just balloons.

Yes the discount card will be out tonight, before we head to the Bingo - shame we are going to a "free" event at the Globe, yet putting a table full of £££££ into the pubs coffers 50 yards from our doorstep :?

Hope we have some £££ left to spend on Kellys eye

Wonder if the number caller knows what he's doing

Re competition with Hurley Flyer for meals etc., when there's few in hospitality (like Crawley when it had no diners at all) and they put the corporates upstairs in the boxes instead, why not have the W&L suite offering meals to terrace and blocks D&E fans. They can come in earlier, have a meal at a price competitive with the Hurley Flyer and then go to their usual stand to watch the game. It seems crazy to have the kitchen operational for the top floor and all the tables and chairs empty in the W&L when they could have people paying for meals. Just have someone checking tickets on the balcony to stop people going into the C block without C block tickets or use wristbands for C block ticket holders.

Can see what you are saying but you can't just go in there and buy a meal like you can in a pub... bookings are taken in advance and with pre ordered menu and special diet requirements.

I would have expected, as the name suggests, our Globe Bar & Grill to offer a pre match meal from a reasonably simple menu. A marquee would be a great place for fans to congregate (Plymouth is brilliant, £5 for a pasty and pint with entertainment pulling the away supporters team to pieces while relieving them of £££££ at the bar for 2 hours) , but it would need to be under lock and key no doubt :(

Put a cover over the back of the Omega stand or part of it and we could have something like this. Make it a whole afternoon experience not just 2 hours.

And the 60 Daggers fans were so incensed by their own teams woeful performance, they turned their backs on the action and watched an amateur game happening on the field behind the away end!!

The York City manager has been sacked this morning. The Daggers fans are hoping for the same fate for Wayne Burnett. Lets hope they don't sack him till after the 14th November.

Some classic gallows humour on the Daggers forum :-

No details of the agreed settlement have been released. However, sources close to the club have revealed the compensation included a clause were Burnett was rewarded with Daggers season ticket for the remainder of the season, which he declined stating "I wouldn't watch this shit if you paid me".
