He only signed a year deal, if podge keeps his form up no doubt we'll see him back in league 2 with someone next season. Wouldn't suit our current system but in a 4-4-2 I think he'd score goals at this level

Scored in today's derby against a Lincoln side including Stanners, live on BT.

Yes I watched the game. A decent side Grimsby , but may have to do it in the play-offs.

I suppose we didn't bank on selling Redshaw.

The lad is scoring lots of goals playing for a top side in a poor league, fair play to him.
However if he were still with us, who would be push out of the team? Scoring isn't the problem.

Mullin isn't a regular starter, so Amond would be a sub ?

Let's just hope that we never have to find out how good or bad that league is........ :(

He's not a regular starter because he's not been good enough.

This ''purple patch'' by Amond is getting bigger and bigger, it now looks like good business getting money for the talented ,but injury prone, Redshaw, but the decision to get shut of Amond, that a fair few of us rated, and thought deserved regular games as a centre forward, is a very bad one indeed.

I think the next month will prove if JB was right or not. If a league 2 or higher club comes in for podge ad his goal scoring run continues then yes might have been a boo-boo. But if he stay's in non league I think JB might be proven right.

Must still be New Year as I find myself in total agreement with mrp.

Unfortunately Jimbo used Padraig in roles that he was unhappy in. Maybe if Jim had played him as an out and out Centre Forward rather than try to use him in a variety of positions with little success then his scoring potential would have been of greater use to us.

It's also possible that Padraig found Jimbo's requirements not too his liking as we often find thst players are successful under certain managers but not under others. in many ways like that of Lee M who has been unable to command a regular place due to being used in a variety of positions. Wouldn't be surprised if he's a loan candidate in the very near future.

And did 90% of this forum not want shut of him aswell ? I admit I didn't think he done enough last season but he was never played in a central role or was used as a sub most of the time but he was only a goal or two behind jack n Kev last season. I hope to see him back in league 2 next season as he's proved Jim myself and many others on this forum wrong !
