Armed guards at Wembley with machine guns watching over the French team while training.

Watched the last friendly between these two, glad it's not tomorrow.

Affects everyone now :(

:| really glad the game is going ahead, and chance for us to show our respect.

think next year's euros in France will be interesting, large groups of England fans in public places and suicide bombers.

Armed Police guards protecting the French team in London, we need armed Police Guards on our Streets protecting the public, gone are the days of the friendly Bobby on the beat, arm all Police.

If a similar attack was in London, there would be a lot more innocent victims, as we don't have enough armed police, all French Police are armed, worrying really :|

The UK security services , MI5 , MI6 and GCHQ are vastly superior to the French secret services.

They have foiled a number of potential incidents and continue to do so.

Armed police patrolling Euston station again today... an all too familiar sight these days but still quite reassuring.

I lived/worked in Paris for 4 years in the 1990s.

One of the first things I noticed was the very high visible presence of police on the streets. To the outsider, it looks as though they are always waiting for something to kick-off.

The French Police come in a variety of uniforms according to the function...

They can be quite an intimidating sight, even when all around is calm and serene.

If you ever need assistance from a French policeman, don't address him '...pardon Monsieur Poulet!', in exactly the same way as it's wise not to seek the attention of a French waiter by calling him 'Garcon'. The result of the latter might result in a dish of hot French onion soup over your lap.

If you want to join in with La Marseillaise tonight, then here's the translation...

Arise children of the fatherland
The day of glory has arrived
Against us tyranny's
Bloody standard is raised
Listen to the sound in the fields
The howling of these fearsome soldiers
They are coming into our midst
To cut the throats of your sons and consorts

To arms citizens Form your battalions
March, march
Let impure blood
Water our furrows

What do they want this horde of slaves
Of traitors and conspiratorial kings?
For whom these vile chains
These long-prepared irons?
Frenchmen, for us, ah! What outrage
What methods must be taken?
It is us they dare plan
To return to the old slavery!

What! These foreign cohorts!
They would make laws in our courts!
What! These mercenary phalanxes
Would cut down our warrior sons
Good Lord! By chained hands
Our brow would yield under the yoke
The vile despots would have themselves be
The masters of destiny

Tremble, tyrants and traitors
The shame of all good men
Tremble! Your parricidal schemes
Will receive their just reward
Against you we are all soldiers
If they fall, our young heros
France will bear new ones
Ready to join the fight against you

Frenchmen, as magnanimous warriors
Bear or hold back your blows
Spare these sad victims
That they regret taking up arms against us
But not these bloody despots
These accomplices of Bouillé
All these tigers who pitilessly
Ripped out their mothers' wombs

We too shall enlist
When our elders' time has come
To add to the list of deeds
Inscribed upon their tombs
We are much less jealous of surviving them
Than of sharing their coffins
We shall have the sublime pride
Of avenging or joining them

Drive on sacred patriotism
Support our avenging arms
Liberty, cherished liberty
Join the struggle with your defenders
Under our flags, let victory
Hurry to your manly tone
So that in death your enemies
See your triumph and our glory!

I think I'd rather mumble along!

You can still join arms with our French brothers and sisters, so here's the lyrics to Apporte-moi du soleil...

Apporte-moi du soleil dans ton sourire
Rends-moi heureux pendant tout le temps
Dans ce monde dans lequel nous vivons
Il devrait y avoir davantage de bonheur
Nous pouvons donner tant de joie
À chaque problème demain un nouvel espoir

Rends-moi heureux au cours des années
Ne me fais jamais pleurer
Que tes bras soient aussi chauds
Que le soleil qui chauffe d'en haut
Apporte-moi de la joie, apporte-moi du soleil
Apporte-moi de l'amour ...

(on recommence depuis le début)

:D
