Great player, awful person. He would be less popular than Ellison with opposition fans.

He would fit in well then.

People won't enjoy playing a team with Ellison, Murphy and Grant in it!

Agreed a contract today with Fleetwood Town. That closes THAT door.

That's disappointing assuming that Jimbo was after him in the first place.

No doubt we'll have other targets but the better ones are probably fixed up by now.

As I posted before, ideal time for Mullers to up his game but we can't rely on him to do it all season.

Worrying... :?: :?: :?:

If Fleetwood have signed him it will probably be on terms we couldn't afford. Simple as that. Actually I agree with one or two others that,in hindsight, we might have made a mistake in releasing Podge but what's done is done and can't be undone.

AJ Leitch-Smith was the striker we missed out on. Signed for Port Vale instead.

Febian Brandy, ex United could be worth a look at.
Still a free agent having been released by Rochdale, a bit of a journey man for his age having never really reached his potential but plenty of football league experience at a higher level. Similar stature to Jack, small and quick, based in Manchester so not too far to travel, could be worth a gamble.

Isuppose it gets down to what type of striker Jim looking for. Should they be a proven goal scorer or somebody who can hold the ball to bring others into play? I doubt at this stage of pre season we'll find someone as capable as Jack. So maybe more of a target man who can benefit from balls in the air.

Interesting times ahead

At the risk of annoying one or two :( he'd do a decent job in helping millers fulfill his undoubted ability during the coming season. However his salary may be more than we could afford and would he be prepared
To take instructions from Ken..... :?:

Well any wage is better than non , maybe its more about esteem or street cred. Im sure he could do a job for a season just like Stuart Barlow did in his twilight years. ;)

Perhaps we should stay in touch with Bury; they've an embarrassment of riches in the striking department on their books:

Danny Nardiello
Leon Clarke - bagged for fun when at Coventry
Hallam Hope - played right midfield yesterday, but more if a striker
Ryan Lowe - still knows where the net is
Tom Pope - ex dolly but nobody is perfect

Will be difficult juggling all of the above and keeping them happy. Should be in a good position for a loan given Jimbo's good relationship with Flitcroft and the fact they owe us big time for getting them promoted.

Bury fans seem to think that he is prepared go out on loan which could make him a target for Jimbo especially as he was with Everton prior to signing on loan initially for Bury before putting pen to 3 year deal at Gigg Lane.

I seem to recall his name being mentioned by Shrimper (?) as one to watch last season or the season before.

Exactly.

Certainly far below the level we need to be looking at.

I still would like to see an older striker on board who could take Mullers and the Kelleher under his wings and teach them a thing or two, even if it means that we miss out on automatic promotion until season 2016/2017 when I would hope we are more financially secure to sustain the financial pressures of a higher league.

For me Ryan Lowe who I suspect will not feature week in and week out at Bury would be the ideal person if only for 12 months.

Nice that someone has 'hope' like this. I can't see how we'll be better off financially next season and have a nasty feeling we could be really struggling next year. I don't see how we can stay as we are for much longer with our finances.
