Guess the Crowd v Cambridge

Piss poor football and piss poor promotion = 1500 home fans. Can't blame the locals for this. Management on and off the pitch need to have a long hard look at themselves to stop the rot.

I heard a lad mention that they are no longer allowed to take the drum in to home games because of the amount of complaints? Is this true?

I wonder if Jim will come out and say that the people of Morecambe are letting the club down after that garbage tonight?

The rot has been set in for years mate as crowds continue to dwindle.

I seriously fear for our future. Seriously so.

But yet the Cambridge fans WERE allowed a drum??

Still, there you go. They were in the seats and not behind the goal.

Them and us again!!!! Ha ha!!!!

Seriously though, why WERE they allowed a drum tonight??

Surely it is down to the powers to be to stop the rot setting in. I agree though if things don't improve soon we are heading for trouble. It annoys me that these players are on a comfortable wage a week to kick a ball about but can't be arsed when it suits them.

That's the thing. I reckon we had about 500 more tonight than if there was no offer. Shame it won't last though. Were you not tempted?

And how do they stop the said rot??

They tried tonight's promotion which was an almighty flop.

Can't see what more can be done. They're flogging a dead horse.

Jim can turn this around but he needs to do so quickly. It's no longer acceptable to get results away from home and play like that at the Globe. The club is slowly but surely losing fans as ultimately its about entertainment.

They were for me to give away as freebies at work mate.

Tickets which I paid for. Two of which are still in my car.

What more can we do??

Play attractive football that helps. How many boards were advertised with this promotion around the area?

That is 8 home defeats and it is still only November. When do you think Jim is planning to "turn it around?"

I also heard this. Yet another example of what a farce this club is. The football is rubbish but if your a fan of a lower league club you will inevitably have to endure this at times. It's the off the field stuff that really annoys me. The endless unfulfilled promises, poor communication with fans, focus on corporate rather than the real fans, the drum, banning fans. I even ordered two pints of Strongbow tonight assuming it was part of the £2 deal. Not only was there no signage but the bar woman didn't think to mention it either then refused to let me change my choice. Not the end of the world but it's all the little things which accumulate and add to the ever growing irritations I currently have with the club.

Which is why so many people have turned their backs on the club over the past few years.

There is just no inspiration to turn up on or off the field.

Plenty more they could have done. They got the price right but made it complicated with advance ticket sales and frankly didn't promote it nearly enough.

We played Southend a few years back and they did a similar promotion and they made sure no one in the town didn't know about it. They even had trailers parked on every main road in and out of town advertising their offer and got 12,000.

I might be wrong, but I didn't see any additional advertising (no posters, banners etc). Even the website had no link on it when my friend went on looking for tickets. Saw a Facebook post on Sunday saying 'Club shop open 12-5' (or something like that). No information why? Did anyone go out and about around the town? Anyone hammer the phones and do some cold calling? Any email mailshots?

Lets face it not everyone locally knows how shit our team is, so why didn't we manage to drag at least 3000+ down? Great offer, poorly executed.

Anyone any ideas how to offload 2500 programmes, I've got 5 for starters..
Won't be booking a wedding or christening but will get a free cupcake, a bottle of water, a pint for £2, and a programme for £2, so yeah great.

Just 10 hardened fans said it would be a lower turn out, while 24 conservatively optimistic ones thought it would be more.

If you kept your programme you get Dagenham for half price, how many are going to turn up for that one FFS
Enjoy yourself.... It is later than you think

Why anyone is surprised by the poor response to this promotion tonight is beyond me, why would anyone who has been down to the globe and witnesed poor performances and defeat after defeat be even remotely interested in giving it another go.

Leaving the ground time after time feeling utterly dejected and depressed is not something the casual supporter is going to buy into, we need to turn this home form around that's the only way to increase attendances.

Yes indeed, I agree entirely. The Board and management seem to be on a different planet these days. The Board in particular are too busy brown-nosing the corporate hospitality guests and barely ever leave the W&L and boxes. I remember the time when the Board members were stood on the terraces singing alongside the fans. I wonder how many of them actually sit/stand and watch the football alongside the fans these days? But of course, none of this matters if the football is good. But when the football's bad as well, all the little things start to add up. Like running out of pies/hot dogs, filthy toilets not cleaned from one game to another, the girls selling pies outside at the end not having a clue which were which and giving you a chicken when you ask for Meat & Pot. Nothings in their own right, but soon add up when you've watched a crap game.
