Guess the Crowd v Cambridge

I can't waste much more of my life on Morecambe Football Club
It's become too much of an embarrassment
Most people would learn by making mistakes but not us
We are consistent at least
Jim talks the talk (same old tripe)
We believe him because we love and trust him
He marches us up to the top of the hill
Then marches us down again by playing weird formations at home which never work
I wish Jim would stop sitting on his arse looking like a dejected petulant child

Last night we saw an amazing thing and something that should be given far more attention
Murphy came on at half time and it was immediately obvious that he wanted to play. He took control, passed the ball without fear of failure, scored a tidy goal because he was in right place, booked for getting stuck in, organised and encouraged the team. For me he was a breath of fresh air an inspiration

I wonder how many games it will take for Jim to start tinkering with things instead of letting him get on with it?

I want Jim to be successful
I want the fans to sing and have fun again

Last season we renewed our season tickets on the strength of promises made by the Chairman
This year we renewed our season tickets because Jim signed some promising players

We feel thoroughly cheated and taking the drum away is the final straw

Unless things change the club will never get fans back no matter how cheap or free entry to a game may be

We are first and foremost fans of football, we like to sing and become passionate about the games we pay to watch. It's entirely understandable that long suffering regulars give up going to watch Morecambe play.

We go to watch football, it's the only thing that really matters

I don't blame the players for this situation, I don't blame the fans who would get behind the team in an instant given something to believe in. I blame the people who are the decision makers at the club who need to up their game

Nobody will miss us individually next season, we are just a pair of old has beens, but we have endured the substandard treatment as long as possible and have now reached the end of the road

Adios Morecambe Fooball Club, another two long standing passionate fans have regrettably decided to hang up their boots

KenH

You could have had my meat and potato pie. I was towards the end of the queue in the E block area at half time. Got to the front, no chicken pies, had m and p, went to get my peas, no peas and got the last 30ml of gravy.

Sounds pathetic to moan about it but probably means I will think twice before buying a pie later on again.

Any reasons then for WHY the Cambridge fans were allowed a drum, but our OWN fans on our OWN ground (regular customers. Well, they were....) were NOT allowed a drum??

It just beggars belief.

Last night the whole Globe Arena "Experience" slumped to new depths I'm afraid to say.

Strange how things turn around. 4 years ago I wanted to take a drum in to the PMG but wasn't allowed.
The silence at the home end side is probably being worked on so as not to upset our shortly to be new neighbours.

How we get planning permission to have concerts, but not allowed to bang a drum once a fortnight is somewhat mind boggling
Enjoy yourself.... It is later than you think

Thought we would have had peas for 4000?

Couldn't agree more. I was happy (and surprised) enough to see Peter on the bench, but for him to be back on the pitch, and so influential, was a real breath of fresh air after weeks of absolutely zero on-pitch direction and organisation. Long may it continue. I thought he got quite a good reception when he came on and even more-so when he scored, and, yes, good interaction with the fans.

I really, really, do hope that he's given free reign to continue with his drive and enthusiasm and that the players around him can start to perform better and with more confidence. I hope even more than Jim doesn't hold him back from what he clearly wants to achieve.

Indeed, Jim still has a lot of goodwill and supporters, but it's running out. We all know ref decisions can go the wrong way, we all know that the weather can be bad, we all know about injuries and we all know about lack of funds. But time is running out for the same old excuses trotted out all too often for poor home games. Rather than making excuses, he and the team need sometimes to accept that they made mistakes and I don't think I've ever heard Jim accept he's made any tactical mistakes as manager, i.e. to accept he's put on the wrong team or made the wrong substitutions. I've detected a real lack of enthusiasm from Jim in his recent interviews, it's as if he's given up, I hope I'm wrong, but the last couple of times, he's sounded very weary and has started to blame the players for poor performance - that may be true, but it won't endear him to the players who I am sure also wonder about his team selection, formation and subs at times.

+1

Welcome back Peter.

WHAT a home debut. A goal, Man of the Match.

With regard to promotion of the promotion, does anyone even listen to The Bay or read The Visitor anymore? Is it worth focusing all media advertising on just those two outlets? Probably not.

I was wondering on way home tonight about how much the full page colour ad in The Vis cost?

Fantastic to see, but with the shockingly low crowd, is it something else to add to the losses column?

Indeed, as I've said the same on another thread. Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results. If you don't read The Visitor and don't listen to The Bay all day, you really won't have a clue about anything MFC does. I'd say Visitor readers and Bay listeners have been saturated now, and they really do need some new ideas to reach all those who don't read/listen to either.

Same with going out to local schools handing out free tickets. Seems to be the same schools they go round. They never came to my local primary school (Carnforth) during the 7 years my son was there.

Same with local businesses. I run a small business with 10 workers, but I've never, ever, received any kind of communication from MFC, neither for advertising/sponsorship for the ground/team nor anything at all about the corporate hospitality/function rooms business.

Surely, they aren't just concentrating on the same, small, group of schools and local businesses are they? Morecambe needs to be marketed at THE league club for the entire area, Lancaster, Carnforth, Kirkby Lonsdale, Kendal, Grange, etc., not just Morecambe.
