This is an observation, not an opinion, Jim Bentleys win percentage over his managerial career is just over 32 %, without being patronising to less mathematically inclined folk, you are twice as likely to see a loss, or a draw if you go and watch morecambe, as they have steadily over the last 5 years won less than a third of their games.

john coleman over the same period has been averaging 42% and is regarded as a miracle worker, and graham alexander at 39 %, as a rookie manager over 2 seasons, 39%, and he was sacked.

So looking at these figures, from 3 different clubs in similar size and status tells us what?

In terms of Alexander, i'm sure if Jim was given the same budget that he had at his disposal at Fleetwood Jims win percentage would be much higher than 39%.

My point was about us, not them, but alexander did take fleetwood up a tier, then got a bit of a bum deal after a 2 wins in 10 start in league 1.

The larger the playing budget the higher the expectations.

It tells you what a good manager John Coleman is because he has a win % of 42% on a total budget about the size of Craig Mackail-Smith's wages alone.

What's his win percentage at the Globe?

Jim's win percentage to date doesn't justify retaining him, but he no doubt comes cheap and that seems to be the criteria for the decision makers. Cheap and cheerful.

We may as well hang in with Jim, despite the miserable home form, because he is likely suffering agonies far greater than us. It can't be doing his health any good. Nor can it be doing his career prospects any good. Lower league looms for the club and Jim

On the contrary, when he keeps us up, his close season stock will be high, retaining FL status despite a small budget at a small club, and the reasons to leave, more of the same in the forthcoming season, A very small fan base , of which half of them seem to have turned on him, despite giving many years service to the club, and dont forget, the usual merry go round of managerial changes will offer a fresh start for him, as much as it will anyone.

Retaining football league status for another year is a brilliant achievement, yes, but doesn't address the more important issue of poor entertainment and declining attendances. It's just kicking the can for a little longer and delaying the inevitable. Being in L2 means nothing to the people who come down and suffer a poor game in a poor stadium, time after time after time. Home form has been poor for years - if we played as badly away as we do at home we'd have been relegated by now.

Yes, Jim has built up an enormous amount of respect, goodwill, etc., but that eventually wears out. After all, would you go to a pop concert if the singer had lost their voice, however good they used to be? Jim would probably have gone long ago if he hadn't been such a loyal servant to Morecambe and wasn't so well liked & respected. But how many more chances does he get to turn it around? We all know and understand Jim's money problems, but that doesn't excuse some of his more strange formation, team and substitution decisions. When he's down to bare bones with youngsters on the bench, we're all behind him, but when he has options and we can clearly see that there are problems on the pitch, you have to admit some of the decisions he's made have been hard to understand - I think that's why he's getting stick at the moment.

Interestingly, had a 33.8 per cent win rate as a manager, 37 per cent as a morecambe manager,so he was more successful than jim, and his career average was severely hampered by the 14% win rate as Ireland manager.

His Morecambe average was severely hampered by his last season (2010/2011) here.

there you go, in a season when the fans were unhappy, lower league fans need more than just football ,winning or not, they needto be offered value for money, and an enjoyable experience, look at fleetwood, averaging 3300 this season at the bottom of the league.

Lies damn lies and statistics.

Does he take the club on further from the previous year.

Yes.

Does his budget get bigger or smaller every year?

Smaller

Do we now have a history of selling good players that come to the club for nothing?

Yes.

Jim can be here until I die for all I care with his attitude and work ethic. If he goes all Sammy McIlroy then yes, consider a change.

The biggest loss here was that chuffing Dagenham game. If we'd have won that, then Whitehawk, we are in the third round and we get that game that brings in the floating fan and adds to the permanent attendance because they get the bug. The money would then be reinvested and we get a better team that, wins a few more games and lo and behold, more fans come to the club.

The Fleetwood game is massive. That's two televised games on Sky if we win for the Area Finals. It's actually good that we don't have a game before it!
