Morecambe 1 D&R 0 Mullin F/T

I thought Forrester did OK , needs to adapt to lower league football (less time, more brutal)and will learn a lot from Ellison who was outstanding tonight. Mullin got the goal (and MOTM) but there were a lot of strong performances across the team and anyone could have won it.
Nod to Jimbo for mixing it up, and Barky; brave playing your top scorer as a wingback but he did a more than adequate job and after running the length of the pitch I was praying for that one to go in .
A hard fought 3 points and as Jimbo alluded to post match, sometimes it isn't pretty, but I'll take that everyday if we are winning.Hope Baz recovers, although Tommo didn't put a foot wrong.
A BIG well done to all!!!

They will have their eyes on their FA Cup tie at the weekend...

Yes much better from us, which is all we can ask for. Nothing brilliant but we did our job and stopped them coming forward instead of leaving masses of space.

Great relief at the end, the celebrations said it all

Huge improvement tonight, play with that level of desire and commitment for the rest of the season and there won't be any complaints from me. We got of to a bit of a slow start and looked nervous but ended up dominating the game in fact the scoreline dosent do us justice, well done.

Hats off to Jim and all the players tonight. Each one put in a shift especially Ellison who played as if his life depended on a win. The real Morecambe turned up tonight and I was proud as punch when they pulled off the win

Much better last night. My MoM was Tom B playing in a more withdrawn role and used his long throws at every opportunity.

New lad up front impressed for first game and certainly added an extra dimension to our forward play by holding the ball up well. Wonder what he would be like alongside Millar?

Have to say that I expected Daggers to throw the kitchen sink at us in the second 45 with a rookie goalkeeper between the sticks but credit our midfield and defence for their protective shield.

However if Baz's injury proves more than just a minor one maybe Jim would need to look at an emergency loan deal for a more experienced goalkeeper especially with Fleetwood next up and the potential of a money spinner v Wigan.

Admitedly, I've not looked at the Reserve teams line ups much this season, but is young keeper Tom Stewart still with us I take it?

He did more than ok in his one substitute appearance last season.

Best ref we've had for a while I'd say?
Good all round performance from us.
In summing up, walked home happy again!! Long may it continue!!

Agreed about the crowd, ref was definitely a good one, and the perforance was worthy of a win, but I walked home thinking... 'Why didn't the team or club perform like this in previous home games?'

I don't get it. That was a commited performance from the players and staff, top to bottom. Whoever is pulling the strings at the club should just clone that, week in week out!

Last night was a real tonic. Plenty of guts and endeavour which we've been lacking in recent games.

I thought the goal summed up our entire performance when Mullin bundled it in at the second attempt - we made hard work of the evening but showed enough determination to get the result. I was surprised at how dirty Daggers were. Constant, incessant fouling from their centre backs which went unpunished 90% of the time. We could have had more than one penalty. They weren't a very good team in reality.

Mullin a worthy man of the match, Kev played his best game for ages with immense work rate and the lad Forrester did ok although he got bullied a lot by their defence. Murphy and Beeley also impressed. Everyone did well.

I have been fairly critical of Jim and the recent home performances so its only fair I give credit where credit is due. It wasn't pretty to watch but the amount of effort the lads put in was very pleasing to see. The work rate and desire from players like Kev, Mullin and Murphy really stood out and if they keep that up, we should see a mark improvement in results! I am not sure if we will come up against a poorer side than the one we saw last night though!

It was brilliant to see Jim on the line throughout the match, he looked like he was up for the fight again!
