we should of got something from that game and clearly the footballing gods weren't on our side that night.
so can you think of other big games when lady luck wasn't on our side?

1991 - F.A.Cup Morecambe 0 Hull City 1 and THAT disallowed goal :(

2003 - Conference play off semi final v Dagenham. Not only losing the penalty shoot out but being 2-0 up close to the end as well

The disallowed goal in the 1962 FA Cup 3rd round at home to Weymouth. I was only 9 so I guess my dad wouldn't have let me go to the replay anyway.

Weymouth drew the Nob Enders away in the 4th round, we had to wait another 45 years before we drew them

Hereford in the 2006 play-off semi final at Christie Park.

Referee Jon Moss I think it was (not my favourite ref.) who saw a handball that no-one else in the ground saw to give Hereford their equaliser and the Twiss goal wrongly disallowed for offside.

It should have been a 2-0 win for us instead of a 1-1 draw.

However if we had gone through and won the final it would have deprived us of our victory at the New Wembley 12 months later.

Tamworth 0-0 Morecambe
only a win was good enough for us to make the playoffs, we battered them but couldn't get passed ex Macc keeper Ryan Price. Stevenage took our place in the playoffs

2007 Conference play off semi final 2nd leg, Steven Drench should have/could have been sent off, luckily because he was laid on a stretcher with a broken arm the ref bottled it, perhaps I should have posted this on the swings/roundabouts thread

Dagenham 2 Morecambe 2

I'm guessing 1998. Morecambe were 2-1 up having been denied two clear penalties and one of the worst tackles you'll see go unpunished. Referee Alfie Conn miraculously found 6 minutes of injury time. They then scored what looked like an offside equaliser with the last kick of the game in the 8th minute of added time. I don't think I'd ever seen Jim Harvey so angry.

One of the worst ever days for me came in 1994.
Exactly twenty years after winning the F.A.Trophy Morecambe had a great run to the quarter final beating Southport along the way, and with many of the Conference sides already knocked out, this was a great opportunity to reach Wembley.
An away tie at Guiseley did not appear to suggest too much of a problem.
However, on the day Guiseley played out of their skins and went 3-0 up. Although Morecambe reduced it to 3-2, the Yorkshire side hung on for a memorable win.
Even now, I still cannot believe how that match was lost. We had missed a golden chance to get to a two legged semi final and then possibly the final again.
The feeling of desolation was tangible. Never seen Shrimps supporters look so miserable after a game than that.

Yes I think they lost to Runcorn in the semi final.

Don't know about luck, but on the subject of "could have" I think having been 2.0 up against the team that were bottom of the League have just beaten Whitehawk live on the telly and have now hit the jackpot with a 3rd round tie at Goodison must go down as a "Fail"

I cannot think of words to describe how our Toffee manager must feel at the moment.
