Doyle and Goodall

Doyle and Goodall

What are Shrimpsvoices thoughts on these two players?
Chris Doyle is a good young centre back who deserves his chance. Ryan Edwards showed us again yesterday that he is not capable of playing at this level. Edwards shows a lack of awareness of both team mates and opponents around him and is one of the main reasons why we have conceded so many goals from set plays this season. His distribution is at best basic and at worst disastrous.
He looks like a zombie aka the walking dead when moving around the pitch, and why does he bother going up for Morecambe corners when my dead grandmother would have more chance of scoring?!!!

Alan Goodall is a class act who can play in the centre of defence (remember the Walsall game?), defensive midfield and can shoot (which is more than Fleming is capable of!) with his great left peg.
But he can't get into the side - does Jim seriously prefer Kenyon?

I think we have looked a bit soft at the back so far this season, especially at defending set pieces. Even the crowd favourite Parrish has looked terrible. With this in mind it is odd and a fair point to question why Doyle has still not been given an opportunity. He's done well on loan at Chorley, and even chipped in with a few goals (7 I believe?) which none of our defenders have done since the days of Bentley and Artell. I thought the clubs long term plan was to develop our own players?

jim won't risk it until we mathematically cannot be relegated but cannot hit the playoffs.
If there is a chance of either he has to play safe.

Edwards is only three year older than Doyle and is still learning himself. Like any player he has good and bad games. Was not zombie like yesterday In winding up Zoko mind!! :D
Doyle is a good footballer and his chance will come, I suspect nearer the end of the season. Ryan is quicker for me.

Goodall started against Wycombe and Exeter and did well, he passes the ball quite well and is adept at getting a foot in, however now Flemo is back and firing (which is good news) it tends to be a choice between Alan and Alex for the defensive midfield slot. Yesterday I thougt Alex did well, won loads of headers and covered a lot of ground in front of our back four in a very open game. Admittedly not as sharp as a passer as Alan but still worth his place yesterday.

In my opinion anyhow!!

Has anyone seen Doyle play ? Because this level is a massive step up from the conference north or whatever level he's been playing. Ryan Edwards is a good defender in a bad team, last summer there was talk of championship clubs being interested in him it's the team as a whole that struggle to defend not just the defence. People forget Edwards is still 21 he's got potentiol to be a top player. The player of the season last year Beely hasn't looked half as good and that's not down to just him it's the people in front of them not doing their job also. Our fans need to realise we're not guna sign players who are guna take this league by storm, all we can attract is younger players or others that have been released and are trying to rebuild their career and hope we can make them better !

Said before in a previous thread he won't play Doyle as he's a 'footballer'. He doesn't just launch it 50 yards which is what Jim wants. It's baffling as to why he doesn't get a chance. Really fast for a centre half aswell

It certainly looks like that at times, but Doyle deserves a run in the first team ASAP.

Goodall is a far better player than Kenyon, and he can score from distance which is a rarity for Jim's teams !

Goodall would be one of the first names on my team sheet
