Neil Marshall O/T

A legend of Lancaster City fc has revealed that he's battling cancer.
He will retire at the end of the season having played over 400 games for City.
A class player who gave everything for his home town club.

Very, very sad and a Lancaster City Legend, no doubt about that.

To play 400+ games for any club these days is more than commendable, but to do it at that level is something else.

Seen him play a few times for City and is a class act in their defence.

He had the chance of coming to Morecambe a few years back but stayed loyal to Lancaster.

It would be a great reason to restore the pre season fixture against the Dollies. A fitting tribute to a local lad who captained his own club. It would be well worthy of our support and raise a few quid for the lad and his family.

Totally , I think anyone on here that has either Jim's ear, or perhaps a board member ,should ask for it to be considered.

Definitely. Hope this happens for Marshy.

Local rivalries go out of the window at times like this and our thoughts are with Neil and his young family.

If not a pre-season friendly perhaps we could put rivalries aside and get Shrimps fans en masse to attend a Lancaster match to show appreciation to his services to his club.

It's so rare nowadays for a player to spend so long at one club, even more so considering the ups and downs and instability of lower league football. A fantastic servant and an incredibly brave person.

And no Morecambe game! Could be a good opportunity for 3 local teams to show support and maybe even raise some money for his family or charity.

Sadly passed away aged just 32.

Football means nothing on days like this.

RIP Marshy. :(

Terrible news that another 'youngster' has had his life cut short by such an awful illness.

My thoughts go out to his family at such a tragic time.

Very sad news. Club rivalries count for nothing in these situations, we are all football family and grieve as family. Deepest condolences to Neil's family.

Could we arrange for a minutes applause for the lad? I am not sure what shirt he wore but would be nice to stand and honour him.
