Something I've thought is a massive untapped source of funds. A few months ago, I looked on the Co House website at the shareholder list and was amazed that there are over 900 individual shareholders, but that looks to be a historical legacy - most will probably have died and their share never formally passed on to their beneficiaries (the executors probably didn't even know). So at some stage in it's history, it must have been freely selling shares to the general public. Other clubs (football and other) issue shares to raise capital - in most local golf clubs for example, you buy a share when you become a member, so all members jointly own the club. Why can't MFC do that? Or is PMG holding out for a buyer to get his investment back and not wanting to dilute his shareholding?

Anyone from FCOM want to put this across to the chairman? Maybe even get a local sponsor to chip in a few ££.

I will ask the questions raised by this. I will also see if there is a possibility of a forum.

Would anyone know if even for a temp roof is planning permission required?

I certainly aren't an expert but according to this possibly not:

Just emailed the club too. I see no reason why this can't happen if we get enough support from fans and possibly a sponsor.

Many years ago, you had to become a shareholder to join 'The World Cup Bar' at Christie Park. I have a vague recollection of it being a £1 share, but that may not be correct. It is possibly tied in with that? The numbers would be about right, was my name there??? That £1 share is probably worth £0.05 now!

I suggested a train stop being built there, before the stadium was even started. It would have been so simple, a platform on either side and a crossing. A train goes up to Heysham Port early afternoon as it is (about 1:30pm?) so the only real addition would be a further train after the match to take fans away. For big games a 'special' could bring away fans in. Joined up thinking? Who'd have thunked?

the cost is down to all new stations having to have lifts for wheel chairs.. Buckshaw now have a station after years of campaigning.

Maybe the club could employ a 'catcher' who armed with a hook and a pole could 'hook' fans on board the train as it slowed almost to a crawl at the rear of the North Stand.

Why would it need a lift? It is a single track line, so a ramp leading on to a single platform, on the football ground side. It wouldn't even need a crossing, but if it did, that would only be £30,000.

As these ideas are being given to the club for fuck all, would it be a good idea to sack the ''commercial'' manager, and use his salary to inplement some of them?

That article in The Vis doesn't say anything about the TC refusing Morecambe FC the right to use the town crest or asking for money to use it, only that the TC are the copyright holders.

It basically says that the club has a new badge for a bright new future and that PMG is happy about it, even though some fans are not. Given we are talking about how a lot of things have gone wrong since we cocked up the building of the new stadium which some believe has pissed off some fans to the point of non-attendance, perhaps we should bin the cartoon prawn on an Arsenal shield?

Yeah, but Carlisle are flying at the moment

Indeed Mark. AND can tie up ground sponsorship deals. ££££££££££££.

So why can't we , i would have thought with the previous success that PMG has had in his business ventures that attracting a ground sponsor would have been a doddle or is he not our negotiator in these matters . Would be interesting to know which businesses have been approached and what sort of deals were offered , are we asking too much .

I think the previously inflated valuation of what we thought we had got plus the concern over rebranding everything will have something to do with it, but other Clubs seem to change the name of their stadium perennially without losing their roots. Was a bit of putting all your eggs in one basket at the time when things looked rosy

One stand sponsor and the ground sponsor have both gone bust since the ground opened.

With a track record like that, there's hardly going to be a massive queue to sponsor us, aside from the fact there isn't really a massive business in the immediate area outside of the power station to sponsor the club.

I think you will find there a good few multi-million pound companies in the area , whether they have been approached or not i wouldn't know . Some of these companies i have done some work for so i will not name them , BUT as i dont have anything to do with Heysham Port any more they are now owned by Peel Ports who i think you will find have a few quid . I wouldn't have thought Accy was a very attractive business proposition but they have managed another sponsorship deal.

Isnt this thread a tad irrelevant :?:
if the team don't deliver entertainment at home games there will be no club left let alone Omega stand/dwindling fans will continue and so on

Why does a stadium sponsor have to be a local firm? Surely the real money is to do a deal with a big national or international firm? We might not get big gates but any sponsor would still get lots of nationwide coverage through the media. Think we must have been asking too much or not contacting the right people.

I was told that the Town Council were requesting £25,000 for the use of the towns badge. It might have been the same bloke who told me that the Chinese were going to invest millions and take us to the Premier League though.

I was speaking it to one of my clients at EDF, and they were not aware the ground needs a new sponsor, and was told to mention it to the Station Director on stage 2" John Munro, and will do when I get chance, it's a brilliant opportunity for local public relations.
