TBF O'Hara hasn't been bad, he's made a couple of routine saves and the shooting has been wide or deflected mostly. Would like to see the O'Toole second one again, looked a tad offside from here!!
We need to compete.

You don't really need to be here on this occasion to tell what's happening.
Wave after wave from a good team, could have been more and I suspect there will be more in the 2nd half.
10 defenders for most of the game, no outlet, might need binoculars now.
Feel sorry for the keeper...

Sounds like another poor performance. We are not going to make the play-offs with these performances. We need to be more consistent throughout the season, which is always our downfall

The starting 4-2-3-1 wasn't working and we were rubbish for the first 60 minutes. Absolutely swamped. After it changed to 4-4-2 with Ellison and Mullin up front, suddenly we started to compete and 90 minutes of that could have resulted in a draw. I can see why Mullin doesn't start but is very useful as a sub, he doesn't give the defence a minute's peace, chases everything.

Beeley - was given the run around by Lee Martin a bit I thought and his distribution was poor.
Centre backs - guilty of sleeping for the first goal; not sure about the second, it looked like it might have been offside to me; and should have cleared set piece danger for the third.
Wilson - TBH don't remember much about his game, which probably means he was ok.

Central midfield - a complete waste of space. I only see ~4-5 games a season but I've never seen Fleming play well. I just don't understand what he offers. Kenyon at least put in a couple of tackles.

What summed it up for me was in the first half Dugdale was on the ball, waiting and waiting for someone in midfield to show for the ball, but they all just stood around in the centre circle with hands on hips, and in the end he launched it long and lost possession. The hoof ball tactic won't work, but it's at least in part because of the complete lack of movement in midfield. Nobody wants to be on the ball, they're all looking to leave responsibility to someone else. That really got my goat.

Devitt - shame he had to come off, he might be built like a twig but he was the only one who looked like he might make something happen in the first 60, but he doesn't really fit into a 4-4-2 and we were much better as a team afterwards.
Barkhuizen - you get nothing from him 99% of the time but occasionally he'll burst through and seriously threaten the goal. Is that worth it? Perhaps as a forward, but in midfield? I'm genuinely not sure, but it's not like we have any better options.
Ellison - perspiration, at least looked like he was trying and got involved for the goal.
Miller - thankless task on his own up front, was ok but feeding on scraps really, rarely involved.

Doesn't show Miller's early effort that was ruled offside, questionable according to Quinny. Could've turned out differently if we'd been 1-0 up...?

He was shocking IMO, and has been for a while. Thought he was lucky not to see red with his 2nd half lunge.

I'm not sure what Jim has been smoking listening to his post match interview. Was there anyone at the game who thought we were remotely competitive? Northampton didn't have to work hard at all to beat us and we posed no threat to them at all. I'm not sure where all these chances were that Jim is talking about because they were half chances at best.

Thoroughly beaten with no real tactics, no coherent play and certainly no plan B once we went behind.

We were never in it. IMO. 3 chances in last 10 maybe, but final ball was woeful.

They were a good team though lets not take that away from them.

The 4/2/3/1 and hit them on the break was new at the start of the season. Now it isn't and we have been sussed; new plan needed.Mind you had we not messed up twice when we outnumbered them on the break this board would be different ( not that we deserved anything yesterday).

It's difficult because Dev (who imo is our best player currently) has less success out wide in a 4/4/2, so do we accommodate him in this 4/2/3/1 or ditch him for 4/4/2 for an out and out winger?
Needs thought Jimbo..........,,,but to better last seasons final position something needs to change.

We were off the pace from the very start. The first half we barely strung three of four passes together, it was like we were afraid of them.

We did have a few half chances in the second half, but it was poor decision making in the final third that meant these half chances didn't turn into solid chances and goals.

Totally baffled listening to the interview with Jim.
