Comes across as a cheap dig at your clubs fan club

F C o M - will always be for Morecambe FC

Did you know that FCoM don't just hand money over fist to the club, they actually raise money, buy the product then donate the product to the club (not line PMG's pockets).

As for asking question

the original chairman, Pat - spoke to the club and was shown plans for development, Dave who took over from Pat also chased up the club and asked questions, again was told there were plans. Now Paul is the chairman, I am sure the question will be asked (again)

maybe the question should be, Why can we not improve the facilities ? and Why wont they let the fans help them ?

I am having a meeting with MD after work on Monday. I will ask the questions raised and relay the answers, I will also put an idea I have had re a temp cover, If that comes off, I will require help of fans, But we will cross that if needed.

Good luck with the meeting tomorrow, perhaps you could show him what has been posted in recent days. It's no secret that the club is strapped for cash so to expect them to pay for a cover is a non starter, however if you go with the plan that the fans will raise the money, surely they can't object. Regarding the cover itself, it does not need to be a structure costing silly money, perhaps something just to cover the middle third area where the food/drinks are served, anyway, once again, good luck and I would certainly be willing to help raise funds if the club gives you a green light.

Frustrating, reading this thread

Fans have previously managed to get the whole thing built at next to no cost (bricks and steel)

"The Club Put a Stop to it" claiming they had plans

if the club can't afford it, why wont they let us help

We did a sponsored walk in 1993 from Christie to The Giant Axe to raise money for the disabled stand.

Not even that!!

Whilst some went the long way round, we nipped over the railway bridge and into the Wagon and Horses for a pint pre match!!

We raised a shed load of money though!!

to put up something that will make a difference to hundreds of fans on the back if the stand, complying with health and safety etc, with a tv or two and some furniture is going to cost, and even with volunteers providing labour once the funds are raised, we won't be seeing anything in a hurry, I think you should ask the club to provide a stop gap solution like a hired marquee until you get your money raised, whikst there are still fans to cater for.

Correct about an elaborate structure. As an interim maybe a roof similar to a marque structure. Why not contact Ellis Marques near the youth prison for their advice as a starter. You never know they may have an old roofing structure that they no longer have a use for.

I would rather the job was done once and done properly.

No point in throwing good money after bad.

Now that there seems to be some impetus and actually attracted the attention of a director (MD) then why not have some proper permanent structure put up probably in the Summer. See if someone wants to sponsor it , Travis Perkins etc
