I think the present defenders were reduced to shambling wrecks by his bully boy tactics when he was their captain ,and then, when he had them broken, shamed. and lying naked on the floor he left, leaving them shadows of their former selves......torn.

He may actually be welcomed back by some of them if they have stockholm syndrome

I go to turf moor as well as the globe every home game, and I was mortified when Burnley signed Barton, but he has something to prove and seems to be doing it, Maybe Hughes would feel he has unfinished business here?

It would suit both parties now Murphy is out and we can't afford to bring anyone else in.

And we CAN afford him as the insurers will be paying Murphys wages.

Going off in a complete O/T tangent, how do you feel about Burnley signing Paul Robinson?

The Roverrrrrrrs forum has gone into meltdown.

Funny as, shows really that ''fierce rivalry'', doesn't really mean that much to players eh?

Karaoke For the Deaf? Oh go on then... [Probably as O/T as Mark Hughes at the moment!]

So how did that work out then?

"I played against Accrington last month and they were probably the best side I’ve played against this season so if I can be involved and do what I can to push the club on that will be great,” the former Everton trainee said.

Of his return to the Wham Stadium, Hughes added: "Believe it or not, things have actually changed quite a lot right down to the management.

"Personnel changes but the place has the same feel about it, there’s a homely feeling about the club and it’s nice to come back home to the north west. It’ll be nice to be part of a team that is flying at the minute too."

Roy Keane did on Alf-Inge Haland, didn't he? I'm sure he said something like that in his autobiography, but somehow escaped a prosecution for ABH/GBH.

So Hughes signs for Stanley to help push for promotion, still mad to think Jim thought we'd be better off with Dugdale than Hughes  we lost a similar amount of games this time last season but we never use to concede half as many if we ever lost it was by the one goal or 2
