Critical future of our club

This post is more than likely going to cause me a problem in certain areas but I just don't go along with the notion that getting rid of the Chairman is going to improve the clubs standing in the community.

If anybody is responsible for the decline in its local standing then take a closer look at the
General Manager who is responsible for the day to day running of our club. As the person charged with the commercial side of the club it follows that the incoming revenue from external sources is his domain. If it is the case that revenue streams are declining then maybe it's time that the club looked towards the present commercial operation and asked is it really providing the revenue that it is there to do so and if not, why not?

Being that the case why is that The Globe still remains without a sponsor? Why is it that the W&L Suite on match days has seen a decline in hospitality diners on a regular basis? Gone are the Saturdays and Tuesdays when it was full of hospitality guests enjoying their pie and peas prior to an exciting and entertaining football match. Yesterday was an exception but interestingly a considerable number decided to take the easier option of hospitality rather than endure the game as it came to its inevitable conclusion.

For me, I dread to think where our club would be without the financial involvement of Peter McG over the past decade or so. I certainly doubt if we would be in the Football League, and like it or hate it, a move to a new ground would have been doubtful.....but maybe that is what some supporters would prefer. The stagnant days of non league with little if any ambition.

Whatever issues I may have about the lack of entertainment on the field (and that is as much the responsibility of those who cross the white line) without the financial input of PMcG I doubt that we would have a club to be proud of, despite the problems that exist.

The Hurley Flyer.

I think there is a pointless quest to find one scapegoat to blame for everything, when there seem to be problems from the top down - loss of interest from PMG and the existing directors, questionable financial decision and lack of engagement with fans down to questionable tactics and player choice.

Still, at least you're not blaming Ken for everything this time I suppose.

Haha funny as Neil, I have to take my hat off to you this time, I think last time I checked we had another commercial manager to feed!

"Marstons cater for a different market and dont aim at our type of customers so they aren't in competition"

- or words to that effect

There are always football fans in there before a game, home and away, whether just having a beer or munching. The instant advantage they have is they can be seen from the road, they look open and they have a car park
Enjoy yourself.... It is later than you think

A customer who likes cheap ,hot food, and a nice pint before a match, indoors ffs, why would we want customers like that?

Whatever price that land sold for, it was too cheap.

The Hurley Flyer has got sod all to do with why we are not attracting more match day revenue from our excellent hospitality package AND maybe you should seek a meeting with PMcG do discuss with him your thoughts regarding his 'so called' loss of interest as well as that of other Directors.

I've had numerous discussions with PMcG as well as other Directors and their commitment to OUR club is as pro active as it has ever been. Just because they don't make themselves available in the W&L on a regular basis doesn't give you or anybody else the right to pre judge them.

As far as the General Manager goes, his overall responsibility for the day to day running of our club is there for all to see and comment on accordingly.

If you don't think a pub on the globes land is having an impact on match day revenue, that's up to you, but to say it's having no impact is naive.

Seems like there's no point in having a debate anyway, as you just want to shout down anyone who disagrees with you, yet cry about being entitled to your opinion elsewhere. What about my right to an opinion?

Am I missing something here? , did neil just totally contradict himself by slagging off the commercial operation of the club, then say it was excellent ,4 posts later,as for the flyer, 3 years ago I regularly organised tables alongside Ian Harrington for between 6 and 12 of us before games, some of us found after a while it was alot lwss expensive to have a nice pre match meal, plus banter with , away fans , in the flyer, for considerably less money, so yes neil, the flyer HAS, made an impact.

The Liz Hurley Flyer has indeed without doubt made an impact, yes.

It always is packed with home and away fans.

Our supporters bar still carries the name "Globe Bar & Grill" FFS.....

Needs changing.

With a heavy heart it's a yes from me
I'll continue to sing his name and cheer his team but I do think it's time for a change.
People running the club are the ones that should be potted.. it will be absolutely crime if the town loses its football team before its centenary year.

If the "Grill" had been marketed properly as a sports bar with lots of beer and other promotions it could have taken money every night of the week.

The "World Cup Bar" under the main stand at Christie was open every night of the week and in those days our gates were about 300 and the bar was even more off the beaten track than the "Grill" is ""

Indeed, I remember those days when it was open EVERY night. I used to frequent it regularly myself.

Likewise the Gym. If that too had been marketed properly.... Meanwhile, LA3 thrives...

Wasn't it a home venue for a super league darts team ? They have made no effort to drum up custom like that and with all the caravan sites around the ground surely a few flyers promoting the bar could have been tried.
I think that in the World Cup Bar , there were directors in quite frequently mixing with the fans and talking about plans for the club. Now the fans are mushrooms , to be kept in the dark and shat upon !
