Sack him

Both right I think MPH. The negativity is across the club from fans to directors. Everyone knows things need to be sorted out on and off the pitch. Yet one is seemingly reliant on the other with no one willing to tackle it. Downward spiral. That said I think Jim is not one of the architects of this but even he is sounding more despondent.

Agree 100%. The commerical dept seem to be adequate when they're dealing with local businesses, i.e. sponsorships, ground adverts, corporate hospitality, etc., but they're worse than useless dealing with the core supporters who go into the Omega stand and blocks D & E. Rightly or wrongly there does seem to be some kind of snobbish attitude that the ordinary fans don't matter and that they should continue to pay to support the club out of loyalty (emotional blackmail!).

Trouble is that without a decent gate, the corporates won't be interested. Businesses only advertise in the hope of more customers - the fewer people watching, the smaller the potential customer base, and if a business doesn't see more custom as a result of their advertising, they'll stop paying for it. Even corporate hospitality has suffered this year, so the commercial dept must be having trouble selling tables etc - the W&L used to be jammed every game, now it's a fairly rare sight to see it heaving. On our row in block C, last Saturday was the first time this season that we had anyone else sat on the row - a couple of years ago, we always had some corporates sat on our row!

No wonder they can't get a ground sponsor - again, it's all a matter of advertising the company name. With crowds so small and little chance of televised matches (due to woeful cup performances), just why should a big business spend a huge amount of money on it? From a cost-benefit point of view, it doesn't make sense.

I really fear for season ticket renewals this Summer. I do hope the club's management have some plans to encourage existing holders to renew. If they don't realise what's about to happen, they're going to get a shock!

Jim has sounded negative and despondent for as long as I can remember. I've posted on here about many times. In his interviews, he never fails to mention lack of money, often mentions small crowds. Often complains that he can't afford the players he wants (a real kick in the teeth for the ones we have!). He always comes across as being dour and negative. Even in an interview after a good win, he manages to be negative and mentions recent losses, injured players, etc. Sad to say, but the Bay reports often do the same. For people whose only interaction with the club is listening to the Bay, they're being fed a very negative impression of the club.

Probably the worst thing you could do would be to read into the "Poll" on Facecloth which is gauging opinion on Jim. Thing with those is that anybody can join or comment on the page it has been set up on, whether a Morecambe fan or not. Just my opinion anyway.

I don't like (or even read in truth) the Facebook opinion and discussions on the subject as I think all discussions should be kept to the forum. Again, just my opinion (and perhaps I'm a bit old school in thinking like that - "old school" in discussing the internet, blimey!!!)

I noticed on Saturday somebody had typed onto this said Facebook page, "Bentley out", yet the same poster was singing his name on Saturday.

As the new poster (welcome) on this SV thread quoted earlier, "be careful what you wish for."

I fear the worst for MY club. For OUR club. It worries me greatly.

I have said for a while now I can see us ending up in a Darlington situation. Move into a spanking new ground only for us to fall flat on our arses and have to start again in the lower echelons on Non League football. It really pains me to say it, but it's all I can see. Dwindling supporter numbers, loyal supporters fed up of the way the club is going. Shall I go on??? I could do. Quite easily.

I can only see one outcome here unless we have a buyout or an investor step forward. Last we heard about Shanghai bloody Clever, "things" were ongoing and we would "hear more in due course". The silence is deafening. And yes, I know its probably a dead duck now. But tell us. The bar area cover was being planned. It's gone quiet. Tell us.

Ideally, I personally would LOVE to see Rod Taylor (absolute club legend) and Graham Hodgson back at the helm. Both these men were supporters first and foremost and had the supporters interest at heart and CARED about US. Their PAYING CUSTOMERS.

Bentley IN.

Monday morning rant over.

Dead right. We need both Rod Taylor and Graham Hodgson back at the helm. It has been a steady decline since Graham resigned as a director and Rod relinquished the CEO position. These 2 are lifelong Shrimps fans and must be as dismayed as everyone on here at the club's state.

And Jim must stay !

The only way Graham would get back is on a free transfer

Graham always attends the Annual AGM's which I am pleased to see, always gives me a glimmer of hope he's back interested again.

The next AGM should be due in a couple of months.

I suspect he would only return under a different top banana or as the top man himself.

IF and I repeat IF PMcG was to decide enough is enough then a partnership of Graham and Rod would be the dream ticket in my opinion. PMcG's departure would also probably hasten the departure of the current General Manager.

As for the current wishes of supporters to get more info about the state of the club on a regular basis, the current Board may have decided to keep things in-house following the shambles surrounding the Chinese link, not wishing to provide more armour to those who thrive on speculation. Not that dissimilar to how Boards of companies undertake their business on a 'need to know' basis.

Personally I see no benefit in the Board being more 'open' in its day to day activity other than providing ammunition to those individuals who take pleasure on a day to day basis of muck spreading.

Of course if fans want more detailed info about the clubs financial position, I'm sure that the Board would welcome an influx of new shareholders who can air their views at the AGM, something that a growing number of us do already.

Are they open to selling shares though? Nothing on the website about it. Others have posted they've made similar enquiries of the club and not received a reply. I've often thought it was a missed opportunity not to openly try to sell shares to the fans - it cements loyalty and could bring in some much needed revenue.

Suggest you approach the current club secretary direct on match days to ask the question OR even PMcG himself.

I have enquired about purchasing shares in the club.

I even made a suggestion that anyone purchasing say £220 in MFC shares would receive a season ticket. The club would save around £37 in V.A.T. that wouldn't have to be paid over on such share sales. Not even had an acknowledgement to date.

You'd have thought / hoped that ideas like this would have been given some thought especially when it comes to raising much needed funds for the club.

Apart from muck about your nemesis Mark Dixon?

Coming from someone who has posted on several occasions criticising a lack of information coming out of the board, to now be commending them for not releasing information is priceless.
