As RRW said the guys I was referring to aren't the guys you are thinking of. They have the best intentions and do follow the club home and away religiously, I just think sometimes their effort and energy could be used a lot more efficiently. It makes them look stupid.

A mate of mine came along who used to watch us years ago back when I was at school. He used to love it, he had some great times at CP, but as many do after they leave school interest is lost and other commitments get in the way. He's got a few kids and he's been mentioning for ages about bringing them down to Morecambe and I've been telling him about the free kids promotion etc and trying to talk him into coming down. Unfortunately he is a Man United fan and has been toying with the idea of taking them to Old Trafford or The Globe.

After yesterday I think we made that the decision for him.But it's not what you are thinking. Yes the performance was spineless, gutless and weak. They are just three of one thousand words that could be used to describe it. But it wasn't the performance that is going to stop him coming back. It's us lot, the fans. Do we have any normal fans left anymore or are they all hitting 100% on the weirdo-meter?

It has been a concern of mine for quite some time, but it is getting beyond a joke now. I know the lads mean well and fair play to them they go home and away every week, but it was cringe worthy stuff sitting in that away end yesterday and listening to some of the moronic drivel coming out of their mouths. The songs rarely have any relevance at all, what ever happened to the songs that got behind the team? We had to move away from them in the second half it was that bad.

Just a couple of examples:

- 'You're just a giant green dildo, a giant green dildo' (Sung to their keeper who was wearing an all green Northampton strip)
- 'They're here, they're there, they're every f***ing where, empty seats, empty seats' (The only empty seats in the whole ground were in the away end, the home end was almost a sell out)

There are many, many more idiotic examples, but I have gone on long enough.

We play at home Tuesday night apparently and for the first time since I started following the Shrimps I am genuinely considering on whether to go or not. I've had enough.

Of all the excuses stated on here recently not to come to the matches anymore, this takes the biscuit. For Christ's sake, ignore the idiots and support YOUR team!

Many years ago in the NPL/Unibond there was an old 'gentleman' from Sheffield that used to come to away matches and he relentlessly used to shout 'I hope you die in a car crash' to the opposing players!!

Now that's embarrassing

Mr Amnesia - This isn't the only thing stopping me coming Tuesday. There are other reasons, many of them have been stated on here over the past few weeks. The stand, the football, the cost, entertainment value etc etc. So I don't personally think that is 'embarrassing' as you say.

Morecambe compared to the majority of other clubs are very mild mannered, whose support is mainly family orientated, with the rest of the support made up with middle aged men and pensioners.

there is a big gap missing with 18 - 30yr olds, who normally at other clubs make most the noise and create an atmosphere like where use to seeing at other clubs and on TV.

I'd had a few beers and even I wasn't joining in with some of the stuff George. I've been there, the 'rowdy singing' group goes through eras doesn't it? It used to be me and my mates, but most of them don't watch us anymore. I like to think that even when we were that young we didn't embarrass the club as much as the current crop do now. Not only are we losing fans because of the crap we watch week in week out, we are losing fans because of the way our own fans act.

John L wrote:How pathetic... as if things aren't bad enough on the pitch, some people are now turning on fellow fans.

I agree John. It is pathetic turning on fellow fans. I was singled out yesterday by this mob and had songs chanted about myself. The group targeted me and bullied me. It was all very distressing.

Do you not think a better approach would be to have a friendly word at the game and maybe start your own chants that we can join in with, Sam? You know a fair few of the lads who were there, as well as us older lads, and I heard a few were a bit peeved off with a tweet you made during the game. Moaning about things after the event from the safety of your keyboard isn't exactly fair or endearing, is it?

P.S. I remember seeing you jumping on a beer garden table in Barnet, knocking pint glasses onto the floor causing them to smash, not embarrassing in the least! ;)

Can i just clarify that I am not in any way against these lads going the game, would just like to see their energies channelled towards helping the team rather than aggravating opposing fans.

I'm not a huge fan of confrontation, I prefer to hide behind my keyboard and troll like you say. I am happy to discuss the next time you see me though? The guys I am talking about clearly don't like me and are constantly having personal digs at me and the mighty MADKATS so I don't think approaching them and letting them know that I thought they were embarrassing the club was a good idea. Especially when there were 20 plus of them and just myself. Not sure why they are so obsessed with the MADKATS though? Probably jealous of our handsome looks and beer bellies.

You mention Barnet away? I presume you mean this video clip here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHSDSZe3kXk

Now correct me if I am wrong, but if you watch the video I don't think I am involved in any glass smashing? Seems like someone behind me? Even so there is nothing embarrassing about that video whatsoever and it actually reminds me why I love Morecambe FC so much. I await your apology.

I think it's a shame you all grew up, don't see this happy stuff nowadays. Love it when someone with a pint glass can't find his mouth.

Are we in for a trainthrowing competition?

"Our fans..."

Were just BRILLIANT last night.

Fantastic atmosphere, everybody singing the same things and all together as one.

Except that brief 'boo'. Even if we'd lost, the lads would've deserved applauding off last night.

But I wager that there would've been boos had we lost last night, that's the stupid thing. Some of our fans are clearly a few sandwiches short of a picnic..... not me btw, because Blackpool Gimp said I was very intelligent in a previous thread.

Take the disappointment of a poor result out of the equation, only boo if there was a total lack of effort by the players and staff. Those occasions have been rare during my time supporting the club; Off the top of my head I've only booed the team off the pitch away at Dover in the FA Cup and away at Burton Albion in the FA Trophy.
Hello! Hello! We are the Morecambe boys!

Yeah the boos had already started last night and they certainly didn't deserve that for the effort they put in.
Dover was definitely worth a Bentley Boo

I heard 2 instances last night.

One at half time and one (very) shortly before the goal when Dugdale pumped a wayward pass out for a throw.

Let's not focus on the negatives though - GREAT night was had by all !! :D
