Morecambe 1 Portsmouth 1 [***Roche***]

A much improved performance crowned in fine style by a wonder goals from our 'new' striker, Baz.

The team deserved nothing less than a point with a battling performance against the high flyers and promotion candidates Portsmouth.

MoM was certainly Fleming but so frustrating that he produces a performance like that so few in a season.

However a special mention for Luke Conlin who must have made the left back berth his own whilst he's with us. His distribution on the whole is very good but his eye for a pass to a colleague and his positional play argues well for his career and hopefully for ourselves in the short to medium term. Not sure if there is any truth in the rumour but it has been suggested that Jimbo has taken him on loan with a view to a more permanent arrangement next season. If true...excellent and begs the question 'has Jimbo found another gem'... :?: :?: :?:

Portsmouth for all their financial clout produced very little to really trouble us although I'd prefer to think that our defence was on top of their game for once. However how frustrating is it to see how we can perform against the better teams but struggle of late to the lesser ones.

Well done lads; just keep it going :!: :!: :!:

If not, then he is providing no 'support' to the club, and should not be called a supporter, especially when he is continually negative.

We had that conversation some time ago and yes a supporter should support, but should it only count if it's financially? There are loads of 'supporters' who just follow their team on tv/radio, so what do we call them - fans, followers?
I do find it strange that someone can follow a team, expecting them to lose, saying game over often, mocking crowd turnout regularly and generally taking pleasure in bringing them down - thats all.

He's entitled to an opinion, even though its based on his preconceptions and misquoting Quinny on Lancs.

Because he travelled everywhere years ago, during the glory years of NPL and Conference, he is used to winning a lot.
Now we don't win as much, even though he doesn't see us, it isn't good enough, for him.

What creases me is when he posts something from his armchair based on a goal being scored that he cannot see!! Bizarre.

Anyway, he often gets crucified on here for being completely negative, if he actually SAW us last week defend, we could be on suicide watch!!

Epic ending to a solid and decent footballing performance, well done everyone, even the tangerine tinged one!!

I've actually watched Morecambe Fc since 1980 and we were not very good when I started
I've also watched them in the football league as well so totally wrong saying I've only watched the glory days

Stop making this about you; you're shocking support is taking the attention away from Barry Roche superb finish and a good overall performance from the Shrimps last night. Can't you go and talk to some other armchair fans about Vardys goal elsewhere?

Well personally Stu I can't believe that we didn't have the ambition to break whats left of the bank to sign Vardy when Fleetwood snapped him up. Another show of shocking governance by the powers that be.

I am most delighted by Craig Mawsons goal last night. He's the lad that's in goal right?

Depends on your view of the word "support".

You might follow Morecambe and tell people you support Morecambe, but you don't actually "support" Morecambe, bit like my mate Joel B-W.

I cannot stand reading your comments.

In support of John I know how passionate he is about our club and because he has work commitments that prevent him attending games his only way of keeping track of games is via either Player or Radio Lancashire.

His posts are often based on what the lads on Player say....which at times are less than complimentary about our play.

I've every sympathy for someone who can't get to games, but if you're not there you should be at least more careful what you say. And Neil, I'm not aware of BS ever listening to Player. I'm pretty certain he doesn't subscribe, and if he attributes comments to any reliable source, it's always Quinny on Radio Lancs, not Freez & co.

1] subscribe to shrimps-player you tight git.

don't like seeing people ganging up onto others, but you have been asking for this.

And I think that's what winds me up the most about John's posts. He leaps in with a negative boot at the earliest opportunity, based entirely upon web stats. Anyone who was there yesterday knew we were playing well and didn't deserve to be behind. If John paid a small contribution to the club, via Morecambe Player subscription, he would be putting some money in to the club's coffers, but also get a much better idea of what is actually happening. It's entertaining commentary and exclusive videos. And a way to feel a part of the club when it isn't possible to get to matches.

There are times when Freez & co are negative, to the extent that occasionally in frustration a 'naughty word' slips out! But generally it is an optimistic, upbeat, positive view of all things Morecambe. And it means that people listening, frequently me, can directly quote from the game. I can only imagine the response by Freez & his co luvvie when Barry scored! So come on John, part with some money and keep up to date, you'll enjoy it and feel much happier!

Oh, and you can tell RRW to bog off then!

So why not get Morecambe Player then? That way, your comments will be based upon reality. Clearly last night, not for the first time, they weren't.

Fair enough, that does display a level of support. I would still recommend, as others have, subscribing to Player if you can't make games (assuming you are able to log on and listen, which I don't know). The commentary is always partisan, occasionally humourous, frequently irreverent ( and equally frequently irrelevant ;) ) and there is absolutely no dig in recommending this - we get it with our season tickets, and listen in when we can to games we can't make. It's proper entertainment - for proof witness the fact that Gashead of Alcatraz, an expat Brizzle Rovers fan, has actually claimed to listen to Shrimps Player rather than his own club's games - I'm not sure whether he still does, but I have known him to comment during games in the past. I say again this is a recommendation, not a dig - you'll get to hear the full 90 as well, not just very intermittent reports on Radio Lancs or The Bay.
