The Ranch closed its doors for the last time on Sunday and Rob and Debbie have moved to the old Imperial building. The refurbished pub is now called The Exchange and will have the same format as the Ranch, live sport and music etc. It opens tomorrow at 11am.

The peoplefrom tbe ranch house are taking over the former imperial , and doing e erything they can to cater for their regulars in the same fashion, so tat shouldn't be an issue, as for the caliber of the new shops etc, jacks correct , a ything is better than the current mess

Could do them at half time. Might get a few more people in and would be better entertainment than Open The Box.

This may be old news and my apology if it is, but I heard the other day that the developer of the Broadway has purchased the land from Morrisons..

If so and their plans are as creative as the new Broadway flat complex then maybe some time soon we will get to know their intentions.

How on earth can you remember four year old, 'Off Topic' threads, while I struggle to remember what I had for breakfast???

So how did that work out then?

It's your fault for telling us not to start new threads on existing topics, keep it all in one ;)

It looks like the Council haven't been particularly arsed about the land and happy for opus north to string them along whilst the land was undesirable. Eden come to town and suddenly there is a bit of interest and the Council spring in to life and want something doing with it!

Think the Council are powerless, Morrison can be awkward if they want to.

Its no different to any other empty borded up shop or commercial property whats privately owned, the Council cant force them to sell it or maintain it unless the property is a danger.

The site was tidied up quite a lot earlier this year , so it looked like something was happening, Eden North will need land for plant and materials when they get started on things , and later on, parking for visitors, Morrisons are sat on a potential goldmine and aren't under any real pressure to do anything at the moment.

Can the Council not compulsively purchase the land and take it away from Morrisons if it is in the best interest of the town? I am sure the council could have applied a little bit more pressure on Opus North when M&S and the hotel firm pulled out.

I thought about it being used as a car park but Eden want a carbon neutral area around the prom.

Always gets me, when it comes to land and the council.
They didn't handle their responsibilities very well with the people of Heyshams natural gem, did they?

Apart from not being able to afford to buy the land, the ensuing court battle if they were to try, would last year's and cost a fortune, I suspect a lot of haggling behind the scenes will be going on between Eden and Opus soon enough.

As for the green option, I cannot see the attraction of driving all the way from wherever, with a car full of kids ,and parking up just outside Lancaster to get on an electric bus when there's a bypass road taking you straight to the Opus car park just next to Eden North.

You won't need a bus because there is going to be a monorail from Caton Rd

Best idea yet, plus houses are more future proof!

Ive always been against the idea of building more shops when Morecambe main problem is the empty one's(eye sores) we currently have giving people the wrong impression of Morecambe.
