I actually made the comment about being stronger in defence based on the signings BEFORE any pre season games.

I then was proved wrong in games that followed.

Dugdale is a walking disaster, apparently his last 3 clubs have all been relegated and I can believe that with him in the team. What on earth was we doing replacing him with Hughes ! At least the defence was solid last year !

1st goal conceded was just bad luck, 2nd one was static defending, very poor. Miller's pen was also poor, too easy for the keeper, Mullin's was a quality save with trailing leg.

I can live with being shit, I cannot live
With people not applying themselves, and in the main they were excellent.

Only thing was devitt. I know he's only slight but he's not one for putting himself on the line.

Mansfield have had 6 points off us when they should have had nil. Today, it was not for the fault of effort. A lot to build on for next week

I wasn't at the game today but this does sound familiar. We have some very talented attacking players that have contributed a lot of goals this season. However we aren't going to win many games if we keep conceding twice. When Hughes left in the summer I thought that Jim was taking a calculated gamble by letting a big earner leave which would give him wages to spend elsewhere whilst giving youngster Doyle a chance to cement a first team place. Clearly there is something not right behind the scenes between Jim and Doyle. That's no win in 5 now, the pressures building.
