Bill - 'magnificent' in a kind of 'Great Escape' sense is about as far as I could stretch a point.
That's one of the reasons I rang Sky. I thought Owen Coyle was admirably honourable in defeat when he must have been totally gutted (like all Burnley fans and all the neutrals bar those who thought Spurs may have a better chance of beating ManU in the final).
I went on telly to commend Burnley on their fantastic performance over BOTH legs in which they totally outplayed Spurs (with good football, not lower league 'hoof' stuff) in all but 23 minutes in the first game and three last night.
Also to say how I agreed with Harry that we needed a massive change of attitude by a lot of people at the club who think Spurs are already a top club - or at least 'deserve' to be there. He may or may not be the man to sort it out but at least he knows what is needed and that's a reality check all round.
Spurs are also-rans like Wigan, Blackburn, Newcastle and the rest and it's only when they realise that and stop thinking of themselves as still a top four side (or six as it used to be when the Liverpool, Manchester and two big London clubs attracted all the best players) that they may start to make any progress towards that modern elite.
And Hodgie - I know you were only joking but they kind of set an agenda at the start of the programme and then a researcher rings you back to check what you're going to talk about before selecting you for the show. I may try to do the Morecambe thing another time.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!
