Quinny says there was a suspicion of offside. I'm sorry to say that the management are fortunate to still be in their positions. Unfortunately you don't get points for playing quite well or showing passion!

People need to wake up tho and realise it's the manager as much as any of the players to blame for this. We could lose every game till the final one of the season win it to stay up and people would think jims a even bigger legend than he is now, some of my friends who are fans from other clubs are amazed he's still in a job as if it was any other club even Stanley he'd of been giving his p45 long time ago !

Thanks for taking the time, we've just got back. I agree the 56 of us could have clubbed together and had a far better night for £3000, never mind that's what we do...

Firstly we won the Eric Morecambe trophy last season and apparently we have it for keeps as that is the end of it - to be fair it is the inly trinket in our cupboard and probably will be for quite some time if we have not already melted it down (joke)...

I like your quotes which pretty much sum us up and most of our fans who weren't there will soon gather what type of game we played:

a struggling Morecambe side

Morecambe were never a threat

too busy trying to choke the game (our fans get upset when other teams time waste when they have the lead, our team often waste time when we are drawing 0.0)

not a game that will live long in the memory

Morecambe arrived on the crest of a slump

there are 1000's of more enjoyable , rewarding and less expensive ways to have a night out than watch the paucity and tedium of a 4th division football match (couldn't put it better)

you can see them struggling badly next season

with a meagre budget, after years of punching above their weight, next season could be arduous (we have already got to that point)

Morecambe happy to let us have the ball

Tactics of playing not to lose, rather than to win - insufferable to watch

Morecambe weren't much of a threat

after the goal, Morecambe suddenly stopped time wasting
Enjoy yourself.... It is later than you think

Playing not to lose rather than playing to win, or, more to the point, playing tight in the hope of snatching a goal and then defending a 1-0 lead just isn't working. It's crap to watch and it hasn't worked all season. As we're stuffed anyway, why not, just for a change, try something different? Just go for it. Attack, attack, attack. If we get ahead, work to the principle of 'the best form of defence is attack. Who cares if we then concede if we're actually looking to win some games? Pre-season, I had never been so excited about a Morecambe squad, full of skill & flair. It's been throttled out of them, without bringing any success.

Come on Jim, we're unlikely to go down simply because there are two or three even worse sides than us, but if we do, can we at least go down with a little style & attacking endeavour?

The last Morecambe player to score a goal that actually meant we got a point was Baz. *sigh*

So how did that work out then?

The only reason Jim and Ken are still in a job is because there are 2 worse teams than us. We are lucky that York and Dagenham so far adrift. That doesn't normally happen. If they weren't in the positions they are I suspect Jim and Ken would have been shown the door by now. As it is we are unlikely to go down so they will probably be given another chance next season.

And another chance the season after probably. We're seeing the same pattern every season, people say the same things, yet there are no changes at the top, either in terms of ownership nor management (football and non football related!). You can look back at SV last year at this time and read virtually the same messages (as you can the year before!). It's stagnation city!

Change is needed. I'm not saying Jim & Ken need to go, but they need to change tactics, as do the rest of the club's board & management.

This season, it seems they went for quality rather than quantity of players and that's meant we've really suffered with injuries, weary players, etc. Things looked really good last Summer, which is why the recent form has been such a disappointment. Perhaps Jim & Ken need to look at a larger squad of younger/cheaper players next season if that's all that can be afforded? Or alternatively an even smaller "core" squad of experience leaving money in the budget to bring in more loan players as and when needed. With such a small squad, we really suffer with long term injuries to key players almost every season (i.e. Murphy this season, Baz last season, Little Jack the season before? etc).

Same with the Board who seem obsessed with bricks and mortar being the club's salvation. The club's losing an average of half a million a year. The W&L suite, however busy, will never make that kind of money, nor will some offices along the Berlin wall nor a bar behind the Omega. More money can easily be made by a couple of decent cup runs, the occasional televised match, and increased attendances, but that'll only happen with a better performing and more entertaining team on the pitch. There's a limit to how much land/buildings can be sold off - in recent years, that's helped cover the losses, but sooner or later, they'll run out of things to sell!

We need to face facts, unless there are major changes, the club has no future. And no, I'm not saying sack the Board, sack the management, etc., but changes in their approach are needed. Not so many years ago, the club had a golden future due to the millions raised from selling off Christie Park - that's basically been squandered by bad decisions and it's now run out. Yes, we have a shiny new ground, but with poor football and falling attendances, that alone isn't going to save the club, if there's no money to actually run a football club properly (i.e. with a big enough budget to put on a decent team!).

I wished I had the same positive attitude as others that we are safe this season due to the likes of York and Dagenham. Until we are mathematically safe, I think we could go down. If York start to get a few wins together, they could catch us up. 10 points is nothing if York start to get a couple of wins behind them. I never thought we would be in this situation after the players we signed in the summer. I expected a higher position than last but proves that something deeper is wrong, when we struggle like this for the last two seasons or more.

If we had beaten York like just about everyone else does then we would be 16 points clear of them and not having this conversation.

We seem to be reverting to going for clean sheets and we aren't capable of doing that with this squad.

I suspect that the 2 players going back on loan at Kendal and the one at loan at Colwyn Bay have been done to try and bring a loan signing in , possibly a right back if Beeley is injured.

I thought that they were going out again to pay for Conlan. They went for a month in January at about the same time Conlan first joined, and now he's back for another month, they've gone out again. Not sure if there's any money for another loan player.
