Colemans speech after Saturday:

Accrington Stanley boss urges side to keep going full throttle as promotion battle heats up

“The fact we haven’t had to put on a sub and they’ve all put a shift in, they never looked like flagging, they kept on and kept asking questions and tried to get the second goal, and on another day we might have got it."
“Every single one of them was unbelievable. We’re going to need another eight of those performances if we’re going to go up.”

Sadly I get the feeling that we may be coming to the end of the road. Not that Jim deserves it.

It is clear that he's got a knack for finding good players in pre-season, he also gets them setup well and we get off to a great start. We do suffer later as our small budget hits. Yes Accy are doing well but Torquay, Cheltenham, Barnet, Aldershot, Hereford and Macclesfield show those with the least suffer the worst and get relegated.

The problem is that this season really has had no upsides at all for Jim and the first real failures. No cup runs (bar the JPT, which ended so poorly at Fleetwood); a significant drop in crowd averages; the first player he's let go, Padraig Amond, who had done better elsewhere and where you can point a finger at Jim (Mullin has been abysmal this season); some poor signings, Adam Dugdale and Lee Molyneux, which perhaps reflect the growing influence of the Assistant Manager; dreadful luck with the injury to Peter Murphy and the bad weather, which did hamper training; the good performances of Chris Doyle, when Jim's view was he 'wasn't ready' (arguably Bailey and Kelleher should be getting a few run outs soon); the handling of the Andy Parrish situation; and some clear examples of where tactics have backfired to the detriment of the team and the fans.

Jim really needs to quit the whining and get a good finish out of the end of the season so he can make his case to PMG or a new owner.

P.S. The figure PMG is seeking for his shares is allegedly £2 million. I don't know whether this is a price for his shares or to pay off his debts. I'm not sure of his financial position but I look at someone like Fred Story at Carlisle who wrote off the millions he put in to rescue the club and sold his shares for £1 only on the condition that the buyer would inject further capital. I don't think we'll attract many interested parties, who all know they're buying a massively loss making club, if they have to cover millions to buy someone out or cover their debts.

I think you will find that we've already had considerable expressions of interest more than was initially expected.

I think you will find that an expression of interest could go as follows:

"I'm interested, what sort of price are we talking?"

"£2m"

"Ha. Forget it."

£2m does not sound like a lot for a controlling interest of a L2 club. Maybe we will get a buyer after all and PMG can then have a very comfortable retirement ;)

I just had a quick look at a list of owners of League 2 clubs and I never knew that Cambridge were owned by the Duke of Westminister and his family. Now there is a man with a few quid, an estimated £2.9billion in fact. Well thats what Wiki' told me anyways.

For controlling interest of a business losing over £1/2 million a year it is a vast amount of money.

Source please?

Remember this?

So let's hear the source for the information, so we can be sure this is not mere speculation.

He was sworn to secrecy when given that info. so he's obviously not ''fit or proper'' to sit on the panel of ''supporters and directors alliance regulating supporter enrolment'' , or SAD ARSE, as it abbreviates to!!

I've heard their are were three parties that have registered an interest which was relayed at the SAD ARSE meeting.

I've also heard that the club subsequently appointed an agency to canvas potential bidders.

Why do the later if the former is true? Shanghai not so clever springs to mind.

PMG at the recent fans forum did say that the Sky TV money for league clubs is going up quite considerably although he didn't quote a figure and that this would help in balancing the books over the next few years.

How does this work then as I have no idea. Club is worth with assets say £6-7m?

£2m would buy Peter's shares and own the club or just be majority shareholder? How many shares does he have, just over 50%? Is he writing off £2m director loan?

As I understand it, the club don't own the land. They only have a leasehold to use it for the club's purposes (from the Christie trust?). The buildings are worthless if you can't do anything with them, i.e. use them to make a profit or run the football club for philanthropic purposes. So, despite the stadium costing several million pounds, there's no guarantee that anyone would pay that for it. They'd never make a return big enough to justify it and would only have to hope to get back what they paid when they came to sell it.

Realistically, I'm sure PMG would accept any reasonable offer, I can't imagine he'll get all his money back (share purchases and loans) nor would I think he'll expect to. Any buyer will have to put a lot of money into the club to turn it around and have to pay PMG too, so it's a very big ask of them. We certainly don't want someone who can pay PMG but has nothing to give to the club to increase the wages budget and develop the stadium buildings further.

Don't the buildings belong to the club too? The sale of Christie Park, as agreed by the trust, was (as I understood it) the money to build the ground as well as buy the land. I believe the trust was transferred to the new ground.

PMG said that the club is "almost debt free" so that would suggest that his Director's Loan has or will be written off. Some other Directors/Former Directors have Loans so maybe those are the "almost debt free" bit.
